CRIME WITHOUT PUNISHMENT
By; John Kurluk

Within the process of our present judicial system, being convicted of any crime, one would suffer the penalty of (1) serving time, (2) paying an established fine, and/or (3) be assigned public service duties. With the ever increase of crime (much due to lack of economic security), it has been widely noted that prison space is rapidly becoming limited, and thereby fines and public service be the alternative to incarceration. Also, special decrees by Governors are allowing many criminals to be set free based on their good behavior, so as to reduce crowding of prisons4 Even to the point of releasing known felons of rape, child abuse, murder, etc., to once more freely live in any community of their choice.
First Lady Hilary Clinton has indicated at the Democratic National Convention that 'It takes a village to raise a child.' Perhaps she overlooked the fact that with the allowable freedoms to convicted criminals and lack of police power to apprehend felons, that 'It will take an armed camp to protect the children and even the parents of any village.'
With the increased rise of crime, particularly with that of unstable unemployment due to economic downfalls and the increase of drug use among all ages, races and social levels, there will come a time when there will not be enough prisons to incarcerate criminals, fines will be mediocre so as to 'quickly' process the number of cases pending in the courts, and perhaps more types of community chain gang work forces will be needed.
However, there is still one more alternative to alleviating all of this as was seen during the historical period of The Reformation. When the need for a holy city to be built was decided upon by the Pope, a decree went forth to raise funds in that ALL sins could be absolved for a hefty price. the money then funneled into the Catholic Church of Rome, so as to help build what is now known as The Vatican.
As such, with this type of system, our Federal and State governments could very well decree that a convicted criminal could 'pay a hefty sum' to absolve them of all and any crimes. And if that criminal cannot pay, a major national work project could be initiated so as to build a colossal endeavor for the benefit of the country (another Vatican). Once their crime has been paid for, by money or meat, the criminal would be exonerated of all past crimes and allowed to become a 'productive' citizen within any community once more. And, once more be able to commit the crime again.
What the hell, the government could advertise. Save up your coins so you can go out and rape or shoot someone, then pay for the 'privilege.' And what the hell, during certain holidays they could have a Bargain Day or Sale, offering reduced rates to commit an offense.
We can see how the judicial system has run bizarre simply of how criminals are punished. Today we can see a child abuser be given many years of imprisonment, while yet a murderer can serve but a few years and be released on good behavior. We can see how a person who is limited with funds be severely punished, while someone with unlimited money be found not guilty and set free. We can see the miscarriage of justice when the average man will be brutally ap-

A READER RESPONDS
REPLY TO "NO! TO 1-900 PSYCHICS"
By; Rev. Robert Beckett

In the January edition of VOICES there was an article disclaiming 1-900 Psychics. While I feel that we all are entitled to our opinions I also believe that the other side of this issue should be looked at. I am a twenty five year old male who has been working with his gift for almost seventeen years.
It is said, in the January article, that Psychic readings should only be given in person. While a reading given in person can at times, be more comfortable, it is not impossible to work over the phone. For those of us who work through the gift known as Clairaudio it is easier to work over the phone.
What is this gift? Clairaudio is a two part gift. It is A. Gaining insight and knowledge of how to help your clients through the use of one's Spirit Guide; or B. Allowing your client's voice to bring you into their personal area of the Universal Unconscious. Both of these are valid and both seem to work well for me.
I have never, in all my years of service as a Psychic, used "prompt cards" or astrological charts. While I am sure that some of the 900 readers are fraudulent, a goodly portion are for real. What one needs to remember when calling us at work is that there are ways to tell if we are or aren't being honest with you.
This is what to expect when you call. I will show examples of both good and bad readings.
In both you will be asked your name and date of birth. This is for legal reasons, please give it. If the first thing your reader does is ask you for an address, hang up on them. If they continually ask you serious questions, they are probably not for real.
If, however they start with a "general" reading and cover most of what you wished to discuss in that, you are doing good.
If they give you a chance to interrupt them at any time or to ask your questions when you are ready then they are good. Sometimes a client just needs to talk to someone. If that is the case with you I would suggest calling your local clergy or a close friend. If that isn't possible then listen to what your reader says while you talk. There will often be useful advice.
It was also said in the January issue that 900 lines are dangerous. This isn't any more true than it is to say that an automobile is dangerous. There is a risk of danger in any part of our lives. Using your better judgment will help you to know who to listen to.
If I could give you any advice on calling a telephone Psychic, I would say do not do it on impulse. Anything done on impulse is going to get you in trouble. Also, write down the most important questions concerning your life before you pick up the phone. It will help to keep your call shorter. Lastly, pay attention and take notes. That way you can keep track of the accuracy of the reading.
In closing I would like to remind everyone who sees this that nobody, Psychic or otherwise, can make your decisions for you. You are and always will be the master of your own destiny. All we do is help to guide you in making beneficial decisions for your life.
