6. NAME- Karons (The Soft Ones)

WORLD- Karos.

ORBIT- 425 days.

SOLAR SYSTEM- Five planets Karos the third. The inner two, lifeless. Large but with no atmospheres. Two small gaseous giants with no moons or rings. And one outer planet which is mostly ice.

GEOGRAPHY- Small scattered seas. Low land masses. Swamps and lowland forests. Very little open grassland.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION- Gelatinous mass that has no permanent shape, but can take on any shape handy for local conditions. Circulation system can be seen through the body, as can the brain, nervous system, and other organs.
By some means not understood The Karons can take on the characteristics of any race they come in contact with, even to developing similar internal organs, as lungs, which they do not normally have. It is believed they pick up dead cells coming off from the individuals, read the DNA and somehow copy it. They cannot, however, take on the other race's skin tone and such. They are still obviously Karons. But it is a marvelous adaptive skill that enables them to fit in to many planets. They are extremely sensitive to the sun, however,, and most always cover themselves, or they dry out quickly, and die, or, their internal organs are damaged.
The Karons use organic technology. Their machines are all organic. It is they who are responsible for the cattle mutilations that occur from time to time on Earth, as they must constantly seek out new components for their organic machines. Those they take from are always rewarded, however, in ways they know nothing of.

POLITICAL SYSTEM- Elected democracy. Quite similar to The United States' system with its three branches of government. But each legislative body has only one house, not two. Other than that the two systems are almost identical. Though the Karons run theirs a little bit more efficiently.

RELIGION- A strong belief in a Higher Deity, a guiding force which is represented as an unhatched egg, a pure untouched Being. Prayer is very complex. Each day's activities are conducted in a series of prayer sessions so that all the community's activities are conducted in a holy manner.
The Karons occupy three worlds in The Galactic Community, and share colonies on several other worlds. The Karon are kind and hospitable people, except in the time of egg laying when they forbid all others from their territories. For the time of new life is absolutely sacred.
