THE SPIRITS SPEAK

Continuing our interviews with the Apostles and Saints we come to the writer of the Second Gospel, Mark.

1.  Mark, we will begin by asking the same question we asked the writers of the other gospels.  Do you feel your work has been fairly translated?

A.  As my Brothers In Christ have said before me, I must speak well of those that translated our Works.  The crime that was done to them was done by those who omitted, in the early days of the church, what did not suit their doctrine.  I must shamefully say, dear Demetrius, that I, myself, was a perpetrator of this crime, having left out things that did not fit with my own views.  But mostly my account is as Peter gave it to me.

2.  There is much argument over exactly when you wrote this Book.  Can you give us a more accurate date?

A.  A date, per se, I cannot give you.  I can only say this.  I wrote down all that Peter gave me from the time I met him until but moments before his death.  To me such trivialities do not matter.  What is important is what was put down, that the Words Of Our Lord shall always be remembered, that all men might treasure them, as we who began His Work still treasure Them.  It is joyous for me to know that you will not exclude His Words from your own Peoples' reckoning of things.  This pleases me greatly, old friend, though it still perplexes me that one who knew Him so well does not follow after Him.

3.  I understand, Mark, you have a particular grievance with certain religions today concerning the speaking of tongues.  Will you explain to us what difficulties you have with this phenomena?  Because I know very well you used it yourself.

A.  Ah, old friend, it is hard for me to explain my objection to the modern use of this phenomena, but I will try to put it into words that those of the new era will understand.
Speaking in tongues was a special gift that God gave The Beloved, that they might go from place to place and converse with all they met, and teach them His Blessed Way.  The Holy Spirit endowed Those in The Inner Circle of Believers with this power so that no matter what tongue a stranger spoke, the Servants Of God could converse with them and bring them Glorious News of Christ's Salvation.
It was never intended that The Power Of Tongues be used in local churches as a means of gathering notoriety, and showing off God's Gifts.
When used for the purpose it was intended it glorifies God.  When used purely as a game for members to use in the church meetings to amuse themselves, shames God and perverts the Powers that He gives The Beloved.
These, dear friend, are the reasons I speak against the current use of tongues. I ask the True Followers Of Christ to return this Glorious Gift to the purpose for which it was intended and stop shaming The Lord by making The Beloved look foolish in the eyes of those outside The Church.
The misuse of a GOOD thing can HINDER God's Work, can turn people away from His Salvation, instead of bringing them to it.  These are the things I wish to say on this subject.

4.  Well, they most certainly are some interesting things!  We thank you for being with us, Mark!  Would you be willing to come back later if people wish your remarks to be clarified?

A.  Certainly, dear friend, certainly!
