As we watch the fictional t.v. shows about space travel we really have to
laugh when we seen the lavish quarters the crews live in. Nothing was further
from the truth, in reality.
Our Ancestors' ships were cramped, to say the least, though each crew person
had a private space, as both races found privacy of a profound importance.
These spaces were cramped by anyone's standards. Ordinary crewmen had alcoves
in which their bed was placed, with panels that came down and closed them
off when they were sleeping. These were well sound proofed, however, and
they could view their own entertainments without disturbing those around
them.
Officers had a little bit bigger accomodations, a private door led into their
apartment. They had a small living area with a table and chair that came
down out of the wall. Their viewers were somewhat bigger, and they had considerably
more storage space. But all in all their accomodations weren't that much
more than the ordinary crewman's.
Most space on REAL starships was dedicated to weaons, propulsion, communications,
and life support. Living quarters were often squeezed in where space was
available around this equipment. Fictional writers can take liberties the
people that built REAL starships couldn't afford.
We receive a lot of complaints from people that our articles are threatening,
that we should have more understanding of other peoples' feelings and not
be so condemning. They can't believe that people will be punished, not allowed
into The Kingdom Of God or other sacred Kingdoms for the things we describe.
"Leave others alone!" they keep saying, "Stop trying to terrorize people
to get your way! The things you are describing just can't be!"
We wish we did not HAVE to tell people what is happening, how upset
their Loved Ones are with them, but the truth must be told.
We are not threatening people, we are like someone walking down the street
who suddenly sees a burning house and runs up to its door and starts banging
on it, telling the people inside to wake up and save themselves. Or, like
a parent that finds a child playing with a loaded gun and takes it away from
him, and strongly dsiplines him for having it.
We are not condemning, we are merely letting people know their house is on
fire, they are in danger of being destroyed, that they are giving their children
horrible weapons with which to destroy themselves. This is not easy Work,
it is not pleasant Work, but there must be someone to tell the Truth, to
let people know that everything isn't wonderful, that everything ISN'T going
to be forgiven, that there are some things that are unforgivable, that are
beyond redemption.
The house is burning! The people are still in it! But we can save them.
If we can make them understand we can save them. You tell us what we should
do. Should we keep banging on the door? Should we keep screaming "Wake
up! Save yourselves!" or should we say "Who cares?" and walk away? You tell
us, what should we do?
