How did Our Ancestors communicate over the vast distances of space? When space travel exceeded the speed of light, Our Ancestors discovered that waves of energy called hyperwaves were created that traveled far faster than the speed of light. It did not take them long to also discover that they could cause these hyperwaves to oscilate and that detectors at great distances could pick up the hyperwaves and translate those oscilations back into audio and visual images. By using this technique starships could communicate very quickly with their home bases, and then using relay stations with those even further away.
Hyper communications, after its discovery, quickly replaced all other forms of communication. Each solar system had a permanent space station orbiting at plus light speed that transmitted information throughout the system, giving each planet instantaneous contact with its neighbors.
Hyper frequencies were limited, however, and long distance communication was expensive, and not used frivolously.
