WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING HERE

By; Speaker Linda J. Polley

Well, as per The Nazarene's instructions we moved to Valley City, North Dakota a few weeks ago. We're still here, and we love it! But there's not that many jobs available. Gerald is still looking every day twice a day actually. In the morning he goes to the Job Service office bright and early, then in the afternoon he checks out the local newspaper. He's put in a couple of applications, one job sounds perfect, except for the night time hours, but the catch is it's not available for two weeks! They're just taking applications now. There's even an apartment for rent in that part of town so he wouldn't have to walk far in the winter!!! But we'll just have to wait and see what happens. It would be perfect because it's making frozen pizzas, and he's done pizza prep before in Orlando. Also, it pays over $6.00 an hour! And the way apartments cost so much less around here than in Maine we'd be able to pay the bills and do The Work and then some!
So far our former landlord hasn't sent our security deposit to us, and we're beginning to get a bit irritated with this. We did leave two days earlier than expected, but we sent him a letter about it.
We were able to help our friend Jesse get the internet and we've been successfully budgeting our time on line since we don't have unlimited access here like we did in Portland. That costs over $100! And as far as we know Valley City doesn't have cable access either. But we found this fantastic little internet service provider with a local access number with 200 hours a month for $19.95. There's no way we could ever use that many hours a month, even with our chat room, Not even with the web site work both us and Jesse have to do! So it's great! And almost as fast as the service we had.
We're amazed at the wonderful natural healing power in this location! Gerald's back has completely healed now, and it bothered him before and during the move! My arm is still sore, where I banged my elbow, but that's slowly improving too.
As can be expected, we owe quite a bit of money due to the move, but it was worth it! It's like a vacation living here, though of course everyone has to work. We hope and pray we can find Gerald a job so we don't have to move to Fargo. The big city is just not to our liking. And we did have instructions to come here, specifically, to Valley City!
Oh, and before I forget.....no sign of the mysterious Reno either! Our thanks to folks who have sent in info that might help in our search for them, it, or whatever this is. So far everything came true in Gerald's dream he had before we moved, except for the job at the nearby restaurant. But who knows? There's still time. Hopefully next issue I'll have some more positive news to report on the job front.
We're getting along wonderfully here with our friend, and just waiting for something good to materialize, so to speak!
Many thanks to the radio stations that have called already, here, for interviews! Always love to have you. Interestingly enough, the last station in Maine to call was the first one in North Dakota! Great interview!
We're still trying to get used to living in a different time zone!

Until Next Issue....
