JOHN LENNON'S CONDITION
I hate what the damned drugs do to people! It is simply appalling! We keep
telling people over and over again "Don't use that garbage! It not only damages
your body, but your Eternal Spirit. We have just started working with John
Lennon. Where he has been isolated for 17 years the damage the drugs have
done is not readily apparant because people really have not been in contact
with him to notice it. But now that he has come out of isolation and is beginning
to interact with people on a daily basis, the damage the drugs have caused
is beginning to show. He speaks very fondly of Paul McCartney & Ringo
Starr, and says how glad he is with how well they have done. But he refers
to George Harrison as "The other one," who he hopes is doing well. It is
obvious he barely remembers him.
He speaks fondly of his wife Yoko, but sometimes refers to her as Koko.
He speaks of his first wife as "the other one," and says he was quite fond
of her, that "the problems were not her fault, that it was the fame. The fame
made everybody crazy. It messed everybody up." When asked about his children
he says "Yes, I am quite pleased with my children. I think they have done
quite well." I don't actually think he remembers his children.
His talent seems to be virtually intact, except that we discovered the
other day he has no recollection of ever playing the harmonica. He believes
someone else played it on the records, not him. And he says "I know I USED
to play the guitar, but I only play the piano now. I help Linda with that."
People complain that the music he is giving through us is not his style.
Well, I think we're lucky we get what we get! I think we're VERY FORTUNATE
that we get what we get! It's been 17 years...of course he's changed a little.
He isn't exactly like he used to be. Are any of us after 17 years? I think
the miracle is he's held himself together as well as he has, and has come
out of his isolation and is now pitching in, trying, in any way he can, to
save mankind. And boy, right now they need saving! So we certainly hope
he keeps trying, keeps giving us what he can. We need him. We need them all.
