About 9:30 last night I had a sudden wave of despair come over me that
literally knocked me off my feet. I had to go to bed early, and woke up still
rather drained. I waited with a little foreboding, for my Spirit Worker's
usual morning report. "All right," I asked when she finally arrived, "what
hit me last night?" "It was Mr. Rogers," she explained. "He's gone! He sacrificed
himself, fed his energy back into The Kingdom Of God to sustain it and empower
it for The Christmas Eve Effort. He left a message for his wife. He said to
tell her 'I'm sorry, I would like to have been here when you arrived, but
this was something I had to do. It was just something I had to do.'"
"You mean ROY Rogers?" I asked. "Yes," my Worker answered. I quickly shook
off the despair and continued with my work, trying to keep a cheerful attitude
with my co-workers. I don't know what else to say, what else CAN you say?
He was a cowboy to the last, a good guy to the end. What can you say?
