The Red Kangaroo Translated

Hadn't intended another email this week, but some strange comments came up about John Lennon's song, "The Red Kangaroo."  It seems some Americans think some of the words are inappropriate.  John Lennon's Australian associates who helped him with the song were quite surprised by this, and decided the best thing to do was to translate it into English so people could see that there was nothing offensive in it.  The song is below.  In italics after each line is what it would be in English.  If a line does not need to be translated 3 stars will indicate this.

1.  I was out in the outback doin my do,
I was out in the country cooking my breakfast,
when I heard a dingy ding do!
when I heard the doorbell ring!
I opened the door and what did I see?
***
A big old wally starin at me!
A big kangaroo staring at me!
It began to speak as clear as can be,
***
what a marvelous thing it seemed to me.
***

(Chorus)

"Well you fly through the air with a
viddy viddy voom,
***
you run down the road with a
zoom zoom zoom!
***
With all the marvelous things you do,
***
Can't you leave a little room
***
for the red kangaroo?
***
Wally, wally, ding a dang do,
Foolish,, foolish, ding a dang do
Can't you leave a little room
***
for the red kangaroo?"
***

2.  Now I tell everybody everwhere I go,
***
Everywhere I can, everybody I know,
***
Of the marvelous thing that came to me,
***
Out in the outback, golly golly gee.
Out in the country, golly, golly gee.

(Repeat Chorus)

3. We build our cities shiny and new,
***
we make our roads straight and true.
***
We grow all we need on the land, we do,
We have all the land to grow what we need,
Can't we leave a little room for the red kangaroo?
***

(Repeat Chorus To End)

We hope this clears up a little confusion, and makes people understand none of the words in this song are in any way, offensive.  They may have different meanings in English slang, or American slang, but we are using the Australian meanings.
Speaking of songs, here's John latest for next sabbath, which will be sung by The Angelic Choir with Al Jolson leading.

WE'VE GOT THE LIGHT

(Chorus)

We're working for The Lords in every way!
We're working for The Lords here every day.
When the Power's coming through
we know just what to do!
We're working for The Lords here every day!

1.  We're showing how we do Their work with love,
We're showing how we do things Up Above!
With the love that you can give
You're helping everyone to live.
We're showing how we do things Up Above!

(Repeat Chorus)

2.  We've got The Light of Happiness around!
Now no one can begin to get us down.
With The Darkness gone away
we've got The Light back here to stay.
We've got The Light Of Happiness around!

(Repeat Chorus To End)

This seems to be an email for songs!  A second new song will be sung at this week's sabbath, but it is not by John Lennon.  It is by an Australian who wishes to remain anonymous, who cannot believe what has happened in his country, and has written these words to express his feelings.

ALICE SPRINGS

1. Oh, Alice Springs, Oh, Alice Springs!
What will become of you?
You turned away The Son Of God,
You said He wasn't true.
He said "I will come visit,"
You answered "Stay away!
We don't want a miracle
In this modern day."

2. Oh, Alice Springs, Oh, Alice Springs!
What will become of you?
Though the sun is shining
There is no Light in you.
You've opened up the portal
into Eternal Night.
Australia it is dying,
For you gave up The Light.

3. Oh, Alice Springs, Oh, Alice Springs!
What will become of you?
Your mothers They are crying
Because of what you do.
Your fathers They are sighing,
What will become of you?
You've turned away The Son Of God,
Now Darkness dwells in you.

(Repeat To End)
