John Lennon's Tribute To The Monkees
This weekend The Monkees were here in Fargo,
North Dakota. John Lennon has always liked The Monkees and
wanted us to contact them because he wanted to send his regards.
He wanted us to give them one of his new songs. We tried to
get in touch with them without success. He also has
written a new song for them, which is below. There is
only one aspect of The Monkees he hasn't liked....no matter how
successful they have become, how many concerts they perform,
their critics always claim they're just a t.v. band. And
this idea is what the new song is about. We think you'll
really enjoy it.
John also has a fantastic offer to present to The Monkees!
He wants to offer them ten of his new songs, including the one
below, free of charge, for a Monkees album. These
songs include, "You Can Make A Miracle Come True",
"I Won't Bite That Bat!", "The Red Kangaroo,"
and "There's Just A Little Bit Of Sunshine In My Soul",
to name just a few. The only request John makes is that
when the album is made, is that it says on it, "Music and
lyrics channeled through Speaker Linda J. Polley, reportedly
written by John Lennon, formerly of The Beatles." If
any of you know how to contact The Monkees, kindly pass this new
little ditty along to them, and see what they think of it.
WE'RE NOT A T.V. BAND!

1. We're famous entertainers
we're known across the land,
We sing in lots of concerts,
our fans give us a hand.
But what the critics call us,
It really makes us mad!
Everywhere we go they say
We're a t.v. band!
(Chorus)
We're not a t.v. band!
We're not a t.v. band!
We had a t.v. show,
It was really grand, you know!
But we're not a t.v. band!
2. We're not a t.v. band!
We're singing across the land.
Wherever we go
the people always know,
We're not a t.v. band.
3. Whatever are we gonna do?
We know all our fans are true.
The critics disagree!
If only they would see!
We're not a t.v. band!
4. There's no question that we get mad!
We think all the critics are bad!
We'd like to punch them in the snout!
We'd like to lay them out!
We're not a t.v. band!
(Repeat Chorus To End.)
One other small thing we want to add here...Paul McCartney was recently on Larry King Live on CNN. He has stated that he is the cause of The Beatles breaking up. John says "For years I have been blamed for the break up of The Beatles. Give me a break, Paul! You have taken everything else away from me, you've got to leave me something!" We believe all this was said in jest.....wasn't it?
