WRONG ANSWERS
By; Speaker Gerald A. Polley

The place is a military base in Maryland, not far from the nation's capitol.  A black van enters a bunker, and heavy steel doors close behind it.  Once the doors are secure five men emerge from the van, one of them carrying an unconscious young girl.
A man in a major's uniform approaches them.  "Any problems, unit two?" he asks.
One of the men answers "We're not sure.  But we think the girl's parents got out a message before we silenced them.  The mother was at a computer when we shot her."
The major looked worried.  "Well, it can't concern us.  They won't be able to track us.  The sector commander has assured us of that."
"The sector commander has been wrong about their capabilities before!" one of the other men put in.
"It does not matter," the major answered.  "We have to know if the synthetic virus will destroy people that were conceived with ectoplasmic matter.  And the only way we can know that is to have test subjects.  If the virus is successful we can wipe out their whole second generation.  Get that one down to the lab!  She can join her male companion and the doctors can go to work."
Suddenly there was a crashing sound, and an armored car came flying through the bunker wall.  It was followed first, by a huge green man with bulging muscles who stopped, flexed his muscles, roared, and then looked around.  Seconds later an equally huge green woman followed him.  The men gathered by the van looked in horror, and began to flee towards the nearest exit, but with an incredible bound the green man crossed the bunker and cut them off.  Before they could retreat the other way the woman had their retreat blocked.
The green man looked at the child slung over the man's shoulder.  As if in answer to some unspoken command the man brought the girl to a more appropriate carrying position.  The green man grabbed the major by the front of the jacket.  "Where boy?"  he asked.
"Don't know what you're talking about!"  The major answered.  "These gentlemen just found this young lady and were bringing her in to the clinic.  I don't know anything about a boy."
"Bad answer!"  the green man growled.  He pulled a Coke machine away from the wall, put the major behind it, and slammed the machine back against the wall.  The major's arm sticking out from behind the machine, trembled for a moment, then sank down.  The green man grabbed one of the agents and pulled out the Pepsi machine.  "Where boy?"  he asked.
"In the medical facility!"  the man answered.  "Down the corridor, three doors!  Down the hallway to the end."
"Good answer!"  the green man snapped.  "You lead the way!"
In a few moments they were in the clinic.  The unconscious boy was lifted by one of the agents from an examination table.  The green man turned to one of the doctors.  "Where virus?" he asked.
"I don't know what you're talking about!"  the man stammered.  The green man grabbed him, pulled him over to a tub of liquid hydrogen used to keep specimens frozen, reached inside, ripped out the specimen rack, and stuffed the doctor in, head first.  In a few moments frost was forming on what protruded.  The green man walked over to another doctor who, before he could even say anything, screamed "In the isolation vault!  It's in the isolation vault with other experiments!"
The green man tapped a finger on the doctor's chest.  "If you and everyone else in here runs very fast, you just might survive.  If you don't, too bad!  Tell everyone....NOW!"
The doctor nodded, ran to a wall phone, punched in some numbers, and began to scream.  "EVACUATE! EVACUATE!  THIS IS A GENERAL ALERT!  IT IS NOT A DRILL! EVACUATE!  CLEAR THE FACILITY!"  He hung up the phone and rushed out the door, with everyone else except the agents being corralled by the big green woman.
"You go outside with her!"  the green man roared.  "You stay with her.  Behave, you live.  You don't.."
"All right!  All right!"  one of the agents screamed.  "We get the idea!  No more demonstrations!  We're not stupid!"
They quickly vacated the building, hopping in the van they had come in with.  In a few minutes they were on a hill overlooking the complex.  Suddenly huge explosions began to rip it apart!  "They're gonna have a hard time covering this one up!"  one of the agents muttered.
The green man landed near them and walked over.  He took the boy from the man who was carrying him.  "Your bosses going to be looking for you now," he growled.  "When they find you they take care of you."
"Aw, come on!" one of the men snapped.  "Give us a break!  We could be useful to you."
The green man stepped towards him and the man raised his hands.  "Honest," the man pleaded, "we haven't got any choice.  Like you said, our bosses find us, we're dead!  We can be useful to you."
The green man nodded.  "Go to The Grand Canyon," he ordered.  "We'll see you get there safely.  A man will come up to you and say 'Fantastic view, isn't it? But believe it or not there's better ones in hell!'  Tell him you'd really like to see them, and he'll take you to a place where your bosses can't find you."
The green man pointed at the little girl.  "Who killed her mother?" he asked.
"I did," one of the men answered.
The green man hit him with a backhand that sent him sprawling to the ground and left him gasping for breath.  "That's to make you hurt a little while," the green man snapped, "so you'll remember not to do things like that again.  Now get out of here before I change my mind and splat all of you!"
The men piled into the van and it roared away.  The green man looked at the child he was holding.  A pale blue light surrounded it.  He suddenly stirred and opened his eyes.  The boy smiled broadly. "Hello, father!  They hurt mother."
"They killed your mother," the green man answered.  "but they paid for it.  We'll take you to your aunt and uncle.  You'll be safe there.  They won't try anything like this again!"
A man in armor landed  near them and walked up.  "Hi, tin head!" the boy cried.  The man in armor looked at him cross for a moment, then smiled and ruffed his hair.  "There ain't much left down there," he remarked to the green man.
"Good!"  the green man answered.
The girl in the woman's arms stirred, opened her eyes, looked at who was holding her and began to laugh.  "You're even beautiful when you're big and green!" she remarked.
"Let's go!" the green man cried.  He bounded away and his companions followed.  It was a good night's work, a VERY good night's work!

THE END

10.54: And if every soul that has done injustice had all that is in the earth, it would offer it for ransom, and they will manifest regret when they see the chastisement and the matter shall be decided between them with justice and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. -The Koran
