Treating Tuberculosis

People have marveled at our medical procedures
from The Old Worlds. The incredible thing is, human technology is
getting very close to being able to do a lot of the things that
we used to do. I have been reading about a new strain of
tuberculosis that does not respond to antibiodicts, and is
beginning to be a real concern to doctors.
We had a very similar disease to tuberculosis and treated it with
light therapy. A small droid was introduced into the affected
lung that radiated ordinary light, or, light that would be in the
visible spectrum. To our form of tuberculosis light was deadly.
It destroyed it. After a few weeks of treatment the person's
infection would disappear, as their body created antibodies from
the dead tuberculosis bacteria. I have often wondered if this
type of treatment would work on the Earth form of tuberculosis.
Of course we would not have the little droids to go in and
administer the light. But we should be able to make some kind of
apparatus that could be introduced to the lungs and light them up.
If light had the same effect on Earth's tuberculosis as it did on
ours, it would be an effective treatment for those now suffering
from the disease. Wish we could find some doctors that could try
this procedure out. You never know! It might work on some other
viruses too.
Like I say, human technology is rapidly catching up with ours.
Sometimes TOO rapidly!
