way into The Prophet's bed!
But her brother was converted, and became a believer, and told her that the mission must be abandoned.  "We have been paid!" the woman answered.  "We must do what we came here to do, or we lose all honor, and could never work again.  Do not trouble me!  Just be out of it.  Once this man enters into me, and absorbs the poison in my womb, any fears anyone had of him will be gone!  How many others have I destroyed because I have the antidote for this poison, and they do not?"
The brother pleaded with her once more, but she would not be dissuaded.  He thought to tell Muhammed, but when he learned his sister was on her way to his bedchamber, he could not delay.  He pursued his sister, and at the door to Muhammed's bedchamber, cut her throat, for he feared he would not be able to convince Muhammed of the truth.
When Muhammed heard the tale he found it hard to believe.  But then found no reason why the man would be lying.  They had the woman burned, so her flesh would not contaminate the ground, and Muhammed had another reason to be weary of Mecca, and the Meccans' even more frustration.  Another of their plots failed when a tribal Jew, disloyal to Abraham, attacked Muhammed on the road.  Unexpected reinforcements overcame them, and they were taken prisoner.  As the land they held was not part of Israel, Abraham gave it to Muhammed to award to their faithful, and made those that dwelled upon it their slaves.
The Meccan leaders plotted daily against Muhammed, but one night the most treacherous of them was silenced when Muhammed's men crept into his house, slew him, and escaped, bringing his head back to Muhammed to show him that the deed was done.
"They plotted against The Prophet!" his men cried, "They sent the whore of death against him.  Now, they will plot no more!"
The Meccans were stunned that Muhammed's followers could attack them in their own city, and their fear became greater than ever.  "Is there no way," they cried, "is there no way to stop this madman?"
And some of them began to say "Perhaps it is time we stop fighting Muhammed, and accept him."  But they were a small number in the city.  And others were not yet ready to follow them.
But Muhammed's place was becoming more secure than ever.  For now there were those in Mecca that, before they went to sleep, prayed, "Allah, protect Muhammed The Prophet."  Now, in their own houses Muhammed had followers.
