Yesterday's email brought in a question that said "How could there be
a church that doesn't recognize Jesus' sacrifice and its importance?"
John Lennon's church, The Embassy Of The Kingdom Of God, does recognize
Jesus' sacrifice. It recognizes Jesus on two principles; one, that
He was The Son Of God, that He had taken on human form, and two, that He
was the perfect sacrifice, the last atonement. These are just the
two reasons that Jesus came to live among mankind.
One, to be a man, not God in a man's body, but to be a man. To
live exactly as any other man lives, to have all of His desires, all of
his pains, all of his frustrations, yet live a perfect life, follow God's
Law in every aspect of His being, prove that by becoming a man Himself,
and living according to God's Teachings, that it was possible to do so,
to end all question that a man could be righteous, and to show what a righteous
man could do with the power of God. To say that Jesus was God defeats
His whole purpose, destroys half His mission, takes away half His glory.
Jesus was as much of a man as any man today, and His life shows what any
man today can do, if he truly believes.
Secondly, Jesus was the final atonement, the last sacrifice.
The Priesthood was destroying the people of Israel with the sacrificial
rites. The shedding of innocent blood was leading them into the false
belief that they could do wrong, then make a sacrifice of atonement over
and over again. Jesus came to be the last sacrifice, the last atonement
so that no other atonement would ever be needed, that a person could be
justified by simply saying "I accept the blood of Christ shed for me.
I need no other atonement." By ending the need for the shedding of
blood Jesus set His people free from The Priesthood.
It is by these acts, by the performance of these duties that Jesus
became undisputed Head Of The Kingdom Of God, Absolute Ruler of what man
calls Heaven. This is what would be taught about Jesus in John Lennon's
church. This is how Jesus would be worshipped, as the final atonement
and the rightful ruler of Heaven.
That The Embassy Of The Kingdom Of God also teaches that Jesus loves
the good so much that He accepts the righteous who even deny Him, in no
way questions these other teachings. That a person can be part of
a corrupt and debased society and still live according to God's principles,
to Jesus makes them more worthy than those who live in a righteous society
and always do God's Will. The righteous are righteous even if they
do not understand their righteousness. Jesus could not condemn any
such as these, for such is Jesus' love. John Lennon can see no reason
why people should not be able to understand this great principle.
"I, myself," he says, "was an unrighteous man. Yet the only harm
I had done was to myself. I was welcomed, cherished, and nurtured.
I was not preached to, but I was taught. And when I was ready I came
forth and took my place. Such is the glory of Jesus, such is the
glory of Heaven."
