FAVOR FOR FAVOR
By; Speaker Gerald A. Polley

The Ancient One and his companions flew far to the west. As they circled a lavish mansion his male companion remarked, "The blood suckers again?"
The Ancient One nodded, but his attention was drawn to the house to the west of the mansion.  He swooped down and flew by a large window.  He could see men inside working various instruments.  There were telescopes on tripods and cameras with long lenses.
"Hmmm!" The Ancient One muttered.  He returned to his companions.  "Let's land!" he ordered.  "Let's stay out of sight.  Our friends are being watched."
"No friends of mine!" his female companion snapped.
They landed and approached the side entrance guided by three husky men that would put wrestlers to shame!
"Wanna see the lady," The Ancient One remarked. "Purely friendly visit.  Don't mean any hostility.  How 'bout it, boys?"
"If you come in peace," one of the men snapped, "why don't you look at peace, instead of as if you're ready for war?"
The Ancient One thought a moment, then remarked "Reasonable enough!"  He took on his human appearance and ordinary street clothes.  "Civies!"  he remarked to his companions.  They quickly lost their armor and, too, donned ordinary clothes.  The Ancient One looked at his female companion who was rather revealingly dressed.  "Putting on a show?" he remarked.
"We don't mind!"  one of the men remarked. "Whoa!  We don't mind at all!"
Everybody looked at each other and grinned.  The one who had spoken opened the door.
The place was not as noisy as it had been before.  There were still a lot of people, but they were much more casually dressed. Every man's eyes followed The Ancient One's companion as they crossed the hall.  The woman sitting in the raised chair on the far side watched them, curiously.
"No party tonight?" The Ancient One remarked.
"Moving time," the woman answered.  "This place is getting too noticed.  Time to find new quarters."
"Yeah!" The Ancient One remarked.  "I was going to mention the observers in the house to the west."
"We know about them," the woman answered.  "What do you want?  You never come here unless you want something."
"The murdered little girl," The Ancient One remarked.  "The pervert killed her, won't reveal where her body is.  I don't want her parents to have to bargain with him to get the body back.  I want it found.  Do your people know where it is?"
"Of course we know where it is!"  the woman answered.  "You wouldn't be here if you didn't know that! We smell fresh blood, especially human blood, for miles!  We found her even before the creep buried her, and were following him.  We can subtly make someone find it.  But, there's a price!  You want a favor, we want a favor!"
"Fair enough!"  The Ancient One answered.  "What do you want?"
"We have a young sister," the woman continued, "she hasn't fed, directly, yet.  She still has a Soul.  She wants release.  She doesn't want to be like us any more.  Release her and we'll see to it the child is found."
"Does she understand what that means," The Ancient One asked, "what has to happen?"
"Yes," the woman answered.  "She understands you'll have to kill her and it will hurt like hell.  But that's the only way she can get what she wants."
"O.k!" The Ancient One agreed.  "Where is she?  We've got to get going."
The woman clapped her hands and cried "Penelope!"  A teenage girl approached from among those mulling around.  "This is the one we talked about, sweetie," the woman remarked.  "He'll give you what you want.  Good luck, sweetheart!"
"Thank you, Your Majesty!" the girl answered, "For all your kindness."
" One more thing before I go," The Ancient One remarked.  "An actress died a little while ago who had just completed a vampire movie.  I'm rather suspicious of the plane crash.  Did your people have anything to do with it?"
"Not me, or, mine," the woman answered.  "But unfortunately yes.  Some of my brothers and sisters were responsible.  They regret the loss of innocent life, but they're sick of the way these perverts portray them in movies, and they wanted to send a message.  They are making amends to the innocents.  They will do your people favors if they are not bothered.  Sometimes our patience gets a little thin with these flesh eaters."
The Ancient One nodded.  "I thought as much!" he remarked.  "If what you say is true, we may assist them in making amends.  We, too, oftentimes don't like how the media portrays us.  We can understand.  We don't like it, but we can understand.  Thank you for your assistance.  I don't consider this favor payment.  I will arrange other rewards for your cooperation."
The woman nodded.  "Come along, child," The Ancient One snapped.
The girl trembled, but followed him and his companions.  "Do you want it done here?" The Ancient One asked.
"Oh, no!" The girl answered, "There's a quiet, beautiful place up in the hills.  Could we go there?"
"If it is your wish!" The Ancient One answered.  He changed form, picked the girl up, and flew away, his companions following.  They reached the spot the girl wanted, and The Ancient One could understand why she had chosen it.  It was a very beautiful and tranquil place.  "Well, " The Ancient One remarked, "I don't want to rush you, child, but there's much we have to do.  There's two ways we can do this.  You can consume my essence, or, I can expose you to my radiance.  I'm afraid both are equally uncomfortable."
He held out his hand and the girl shook her head.  "I'm afraid I'm not very courageous," she remarked.
The Ancient One backed off a few paces, and snapped to his companions "Take up equal distance!  When I give the world switch on full power."
His companions nodded and they soon surrounded the trembling girl.  The Ancient One spread his wings and, his arms, and snapped "Now!" Suddenly he and his companions became incredibly bright.  A white, pure light shone from them of incredible intensity.  The young woman gave a horrid scream, burst into flames, and in an instant her physical form was ash and dust floating to the ground!  The brilliance passed and The Ancient One held out his hand.  A shimmering passage appeared, like a doorway, and two women emerged from it.  The girl's Spirit looked up, cried "Mother!" and "Auntie!" rushed to the women who quickly led her through the passage, and it faded.
"WOW!" The Ancient One's male companion remarked, "Done that very often?"
"Surprisingly," The Ancient One answered, "more times than you'd think!  Over the ages many of them have sought relief.  Some that even knew the destruction of their bodies meant Eternal Death.  This one was lucky, but sometimes they want to be free of it so bad they'll endure anything.
"That's DEFINITELY something to endure!"  his male companion remarked.
"Well, come on!" The Ancient One snapped.  "I wanna sink that boat with the atomic material before it gets where it's going.  Then, we gotta do something about that diseased grain they're growing."
"They just never stop, do they?" his female companion remarked. "They're just determined to start a major war."
"We're just as determined to stop it!" The Ancient One answered.  "Let's go!"
The Ancient One leaped skyward.  His female companion followed him, but his male companion stopped a moment, dug a trench with his great ax, pushed the ashes and dust into it, and covered it over.  He muttered "Just for decency!"  Swung his great ax and soared after his companions.  They had much to do, very much to do!
