We're back from our second trip to Jimmy Kimmel Live! Went a little
bit better this time because we knew what we were doing, but still traveling
is a pain, literally. We didn't fly United this time, we flew Western.
But the service was just as good. Nothing much happened on the first
plane. We were rather zonked after getting up at 4 o'clock in the
morning to get our ride at 5. They had switched songs on us and we
were desperately trying to learn the one they wanted us to use. But
on the second plane all hope of practicing was forgotten! We were
seated with a darling little two year old, Sadie, who was just so much
of a delight that we did nothing but talk to her mother and play with her
the whole flight, which was great for the energy we were carrying, but
not for any rehearsal. We got to California and our limo driver was
nice, but we could tell he was troubled. Come to find out someone
had stolen the art work he had done for twenty years. That would
make me upset, too! The Roosevelt Hotel was great as usual.
Our room was superb. Linda lost her comb so I had to go out and buy
one and got a bottle of soda....three bucks for a two litter bottle of
Sprite! We brought our own food, now we gotta find some way of bringing
our own beverages. We went to the show and rehearsed. They
wanted more certificates for the audience so we got them ready and I at
least numbered them to make them legal. Don't know how many people
kept them, but in the future they may wish they had! Because those
that possess them are going to be considered some of the luckiest people
in the world.
We did our number with one tiny mishap....fortunately nobody noticed!
And, had a nice interview with Jimmy. We told about John's depression,
and, his upcoming marriage. Jimmy was delightful! One of our
friends took us to supper after the show at Hamburger Hamlet. Absolutely
delicious! This place is going to be one of our favorite stops whenever
we're in Hollywood! Only drawback was we were sat by the bar and
we had to finish our meal quickly, and get out because exhaustion and the
bad vibes from the drinkers were taking their toll. We got a good
night's sleep, my body, however, thought I was still back in Fargo and
woke me up at 5:30 because I was late for my medication, and I couldn't
get back to sleep. So I got up, repacked the suitcase, and got cleaned
up while I let Linda sleep, then got her showered and dressed. We
met our ride, and the trip back to the airport was pleasant as he took
some side streets and we admired the architecture.
Got our tickets without hardly any trouble at all, or, boarding passes,
or whatever they're called now. Had a little trouble getting to the
plane and then found out we were seated on opposite ends! The desk
clerk was trying to figure out what to do when this incredibly nice gentleman
walked up and remarked that he'd overheard our conversation, and had the
seat next to mine, and would gladly switch. Now don't tell us there
aren't any nice people around any more! Our seat mate on the return
trip was a gentleman that was very interested in our Work and we spent
a great deal of time explaining to him some of the things that we've been
through.
We landed at Minneapolis/St. Paul, got whisked around on their golf
carts, bless them! But our next plane was late because of weather,
and we got sat in the very back seats behind the engines and couldn't see
anything! Noise was a little disturbing, too. Then, we got
to the take off position and the thunderstorms hit, and we had to sit there
until they cleared. But we finally got air borne......quite a take
off! Linda nearly broke my arm hanging onto me, but we finally landed
in Fargo several hours late, but the stretch limo was there and waiting,
with one of our favorite drivers. We got whisked home, and got to
bed rather quickly, as we were expected in The Afterlife to take part in
a wedding celebration, and They wanted as much of us there as possible.
All in all, it wasn't too bad a trip! My eyes are still bothering
from the studio lights, but they'll stop burning after a while.
Oh! People recognized us at the hotel, complimented us on our
performance, said we were marvelous, and, at the airport! We're being
recognized! We did the show, and distributed Muhammed's power. Still
disturbed because we couldn't get his message out, but we're still working
on that. Perhaps with his power flowing in California we'll be able
to do something about that.
Forgot something! Linda had a little trouble getting on the first
plane. All she has for ID is her old Maine driver's license which
expired ages ago, and she had to go through the whole frisk down search
thing, and the guy went through our luggage. It wasn't really that
bad, just a nuisance. You have to remember why they're doing all
this now. But it's so nice to remember the simple times when you
just went to the airport, bought a ticket, got on the plane and flew!
Linda's going to get a state I.D. as quick as we can so the next time we'll
be more prepared. One of these days we're going to meet a publisher
on one of these planes, and he might just say "Do you mind if I go home
with you? I wanna look at some of this stuff before somebody else
gets to it."
