"AH, LUNCH!"
By; Gerald A. Polley

Working in hotels and restaurants you can run into some rather odd people, to say the least. One afternoon I was asked to take a room service order up to a room where some young ladies were staying.  I knocked on the door and two of  them opened it. One of them began to explain that they were going to one of the local amateur theaters in the area, and they wondered how to get there.
"Oh, that's easy!"  I began to explain, "You just go down to the intersection, make a right, go down to the next intersection, make a left, make a left at the next intersection, then from there on you just bear right and you'll end up right in their front door. You can't miss it!"
"Let's see," the young lady began speaking, "right, left...."
At that moment the bathroom door opened and a third young woman emerged.  All she had on was a tiny pair of panties and a towel around her head.  "Oh!  Lunch is here!"  she remarked.
"I think you've got it" I told the other young lady, and quickly retreated, closing the door behind me, and letting out a deep sigh.
"Mary!"  I heard through the door, "That was terrible!  Why do you DO things like that?"
The third young lady laughed. "Oh, don't be such a wet blanket!"  she remarked. "He enjoyed the show!"
"You're impossible, Mary!"  the other girl continued, "You're just impossible!"
I quickly went back to work but the cook immediately knew something had happened and demanded I explain.
"Wow!"  he commented, "Next time I'll take the room services!"
A little while later one of the young ladies came in the door.  "I'm terribly sorry my friend embarrassed you," she remarked.  "You never got a tip!"  She handed me a considerable one.
"I have to say, young lady," I remarked, "that your friend should be careful.  There's some men that might not be so kind if they're given such an exhibition.  She might not get her own self in trouble but all of you."
The young lady nodded.  "I'm afraid Mary doesn't think of things like that!"  she explained.  Again she asked for directions and I repeated them, then the young lady left.
Yes, working in restaurants and hotels can have its moments, it most certainly can!
