They broke The Union lines; at the forth and the
first division, and swept around the two remaining divisions
surrounding them. For seven hours the battle raged, and when the
guns were stilled there was no longer any 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Division
of Christ's Brigade. They had been wiped out to the man!
None had escaped, none had been taken prisoner!
For every Republic soldier killed, including the
suicide pilots, The Union had lost five. It was a disaster!
What was left of The Union Forces fled inland, desperately trying to
hold some part of Georgia, but a week later the last of their forces
were driven out. The entire east coast belonged to The
Republic. The Union was beaten! It would be some time
before they would conced, but they were beaten. They had no more
reserves to call upon, very few more to recruit for their cause.
They would fight on. But with the loss of Georgia they were
finished.
