"How can such infestations be fought?"
First of all, the physical agents the demons are using must be dealt with, segregated from the general population, and if possible, cleansed of the demon's influence. Then, the population they controlled must be educated to understand what was happening to them. Once a demon's food supply is taken away, it will flee to a given area. Then, sanity can return to the people it has affected.
"Is it right to execute someone who has acted under a demon's influence?"
Yes. A demon can only direct, encourage. It cannot force a
person to do evil. The person chooses of their own free will to murder
and maim. And they must pay the price of such acts. If they
survive to be reborn again, the lesson they have learned will turn them
forever from The Darkness, and put them back on The Path To Ultimacy.
"How long can a demon exist?"
This is relatively an unanswerable question. No one knows for sure.
The longest demon infestation ever recorded was the reign of The Lord God
of Haven, which is believed to have lasted fifty thousand years, until he
was destroyed by The Lords Of Light. This was a rarity, however, and
it is believed that few demons manage to exist much longer than two thousand
years. The Forces Of Light simply overwhelm them after that period
of time, and they succumb to the everlasting death that awaits them, where
goodness can look forward to The Light and continued existence in some form.
Evil can only look forward to Darkness, and the only final peace they can
have...non-existence. Such is the way of Natural Law.
"What do demons look like?"
Demons bear a rough resemblance to the natives of whatever race they originated
from. But they are twisted, scarred and deformed by their evil.
That is why they usually appear only as dark, shadowy figures. They
rarely show themselves to even those they control, preferring instead, to
speak from behind them encouraging them to do evil with a whisper in the
ear.
Be weary of any Spirit that will not reveal itself, question its motives.
Any Spirit that will not come into the light, have no dealings with it.
Any Spirit whose touch is cold and icy do not listen to, but send back to
that place of Darkness where they belong.
If you ever think you are being approached by a demon, repeat the following
prayer three times, and you will surround yourself with the one thing that
demons cannot stand...The Light Of Truth.
"I surround myself with
The White Light of Spirit,
And nothing but good
Shall enter my Holy Light." (Aura.)

"You speak of demons being so hard to destroy, yet did not The Nazarene, in his lifetime, cast out many demons? Can it really be that hard to destroy them?"
The key part of the question is "cast out". A Lord Of Light,
one of love, such as The Nazarene, can easily "cast out" demons, but that
does not mean destroy them, as is evident in the incident of the swineherd
and his warning to the possessed man to keep himself clean mentally, so he
could not be possessed again.
The Nazarene's teachings on combating evil were simple...fight it with
love. Love your enemy, do not hate him. This is the greatest
weapon against demons, and he knew it, as well as any other Giver of Wisdom.
The best way to fight demons, to destroy them, is to take away their food
supply. Dry up the hate and the anger, the bigotry and injustice which
they thrive on. Teach every child to love and respect others, to fight
only in their own defense. When this is accomplished through all the
world, when people of every faith may live together in peace, accepting and
respecting each other's differences, then no demon will be able to exist
on earth. For there will be nothing for them to feed upon and they
would starve to death.
This is what we strive for, this is what we work for, that all people can
believe as they wish and let others believe as they will, also.
