WE'VE GOT A FIRE IN THE HOLE! By; Speaker Gerald A. Polley
We've got a fire in the hole! That cry can make your blood run cold. When you're deep down in a hole where no man ought to go, Deep down below, in a deep dark hole, Deep down below, pray for your soul. We've got a fire in the hole! Even brave men cry, when they know that they will die, Deep down below, from the morning sky, We've got a fire in the hole!
Well, it's April 29, In the old Blackstone Mine. The foreman up above He gets a call from below. And when he hears those awful words he knows that men will die, Deep down below, from the morning sky, Deep down below, where no man ought to go, We've got a fire in the hole!
Well, the rescue units try, But the flames are climbing high, Deep down below, from the morning sky, Deep down below, where no man ought to die, Deep down below, in a deep dark hole, We've got a fire in the hole! We've got a fire down below! As the smoke begins to rise A widow she will cry, With her children at her side, for the one she loves has died. Deep down below, Where no man's son should go, We've got a fire in the hole!
All that they can do is seal the shaft above, For deep down below they've lost the ones they love, Deep down below, in that deep dark hole, We've got a fire in the hole! We've got a fire down below!
