The following questions were sent in by Staria Gold, Albany, Oregon, and
are directed to The Olympian Gods. They are answered by Zeus, Himself, through
Speaker Gerald Polley.
1. Please explain if your Olympus is on another planet in your dimension,
or on one of the Spiritual Planes instead?
A. "The answer to your question," said Zeus, "is a litle bit of all. The
original Olympus that we came from was actually a confederation of several
planetary systems outside of this galaxy. The Olympus we dwelled in on Earth
while we had physical forms, was a material place; a mountaintop. The Olympus
we now reside in is in The Spiritual Realm of Existence, for now we are
Spirits."
2. Do you consider yourselves to be part of the physical extra-terrestrial
movement, from this dimension, or would you rather "classify" your people
as being a part of the Spiritual Guides Movement? Or perhaps you place yourselves
in a different category altogether?
A. The consensus of our opinion seems to be that we consider ourselves
Spirit Teachers, of an extra-terrestrial nature. The two facts cannot be
seperated. We cannot be one or the other, we are both.
If anyone has any questions for The Olympian Gods, kindly send them in. We will answer them as soon as we can in this column.
THE WICCAN CORNER
The Visconti Decks
By; Gypsy St*r
Of the earliest known Tarochi cards in existance there are 15 individual
groups known as the Visconti. These groups have a total of 271 cards in all
throughout various collections and museums around the world. The best known
decks with the most surviving cards are that of; Visconti-Sforza at 74 cards,
Cary-Yale Visconti at 67 cards, and the Brera-Brambilia at 48 cards.
Per the above three groups (decks) it is believed that the Brera-Brambilia
deck to be the oldest presumed dating be 1445 AD, thereafter that of the
other two decks created by 1450 AD.
The Visconti family were rulers of Milan, Italy, from 1207 until 1535.
During their reign it is believed they had commissioned Master Artist Bonifacio
Bembo to hand craft each of these decks. Though the Brera-Brambilia collection
is considered the oldest deck due to its stiff looking art work, the artist's
style is clearly depicted through all three decks. At around 1448 the Cary-Yale
Visconti collection was commissioned for the Visconti family. Then a year
later when Francesco Sforza and Bianca Maria Sforza were married also raising
Francesco Sforza to the ducal title, the commission of the Visconti-Sfirza
deck was given to Bonifacio Bembo.
Reproductions of the Visconti-Sforza and Cary-Yale Visconti tarocchi decks
can be obtained from U.S. Games for a modest price of $30.00 each. The exact
size of the reproductions measure 3-33/4" X 7-1/2", which is very close
to the actual size of the original decks. During the fifteenth century these
cards were by no means used r for fortune telling, however, were used primarily
for divinatory purposes. By evidence of a letter found, it was not until
1527 that the tarocchi cards were used for fortune telling of two men and
two women, written at that time by Teofilo (Theophile) Folengo to that of
Caos del Tripeeruno. This is considered as the first source of evidence known
of the terocchi cards being used for fortune telling.
In my own possession is the Gary-Yale Visconti deck (reproduction, of course!)
of which there are a total of 86 cards, 19 of which are actually missing
however were recreated by Luigi Scapini (The Medieval Scapini Tarot) to form
the entire deck as it were in 1450. There are 22 Major Arcana and that of
64 Minor Arcana which includes male and female Kinghts and male and female
Pages.
Those of you wishing to obtain either the Visconti-Sforza or Cary-Yale
Visconti decks (Brera-Brambilia deck not reproduced) from US Games should
consider that doing so would be exclusively for collection or divinatory
purposes only as the decks are extremely large, quite expensive per fortune
telling use, and for only those who have a deep regard for the history of
the Tarot.
Blessed be.
OUR READERS RESPOND
In response to "A Quiet Walk Disturbed" in our November '87 issue, Vickie
of Tennessee writes:
"Thank you for taking the time to answer my letter. If I gave you the opinion
that I was criticizing, I didn't mean to. I was basically saying, "The Situation
was ugly, why do you feel the way you do and will you look at your feelings
a little closer?" As per usual, I don't think I did a very good job of getting
my point across.
I am not defending homosexuals (or any group) because of it being chic;
I just hate prejudice. I was raised by racists in a racist town in Louisiana,
and saw very early how the prejudices were based on ignorance and fear. Anytime
I see prejudice my little red light goes on. You say you don't think you
are prejudiced but I was under the impression you were because in the first
mailing I received from you, you outlined what a Spiritist was and one of
the principles was to the effect that only hetrosexuals need apply. This
bothered me. My dictionary says prejudice is; "an unfavorable opinion or
feeling formed beforehand." BUT to me, you have just as much right to that
as the homosexual has to his. I am personally prejudiced against Christian
fundamentalists. When they come banging on my door or when one of my fundamentalist
relatives start making their high and mighty pronouncements or preaching
to me, I want to treat them just as you did the homosexual-- but it would
accomplish nothing.

"I just received your latest issue of "Voices From Spirit." I'm writing
to say I enjoy it very much. #1. To Gerald- Hooray! 3 cheers! AND, I'm happy
to see you stand up and be counted with the REAL men! I'm referring to "A
Quiet Walk Disturbed." You have hit the nail right on the head. I agree
with you wholeheartedly, it is a sickness, and if these people won't seek
professional help, they should have the common decency to at least be discreet
and leave those of us alone who do not see their way of life healthy.
#2. To Linda- Congratulations! On being able to say you have a REAL MAN
for a husband! I hope you are very proud of him! I also hope not too many
girls find him as attractive as this "sicko"in the chevy did....or you better
get out your trusty rolling pin, and show him what a REAL girl thinks of that,
also.

BELIEVING
By; Speaker Gerald A. Polley
I like to talk to people. I'll strike up a convrsation almost anywhere,
walking through a mall, standing in a checkout line in a grocery store, or
just walking down the street. I may strike up a conversation with anyone,
but I not only like to talk, I like to listen.
I recently met a woman with twelve children, and the thirteenth one on
the way. If I hadn't happened to say hello to her, I would never have heard
the wonderful story how her family worked together and without welfare or
loans put the oldest child through college and, how he was now helping the
next oldest.
I recently met a couple who had come from Kentucky to earn money to save
their parent's small farm, and would soon be returning home after five years
with the debts on the farm paid, and a good little nest egg to help them
along.
Stories like this encourage me. I know that the American system still works
if people work together. So many of the troubles in our beautiful land today
could be solved if people would just learn to cooperate, to listen to each-other,
instead of just sitting down and saying "I can't do anything, let somebody
else help me."
Yes, I like to talk to people, and I like to listen because I learn that
with a little courage, and, if you want it bad enough, anything can be done.
