Tribute To The Marines

John Lennon has been so busy that he didn't realize it was the anniversary of The United States Marine Corps. The Kingdom Of God is extremely appreciatiave of what the marines have done in Iraq and other places throughout history. John wanted to honor them so he put this little tribute together quickly. He borrowed the music from Johann Sebastian Bach's "Here's To The Warriors" because he is simply overwhelmed lately and could not come up with anything original. But we hope these lyrics can be gotten to those who serve with pride. They are heartfelt from an admirer.

MARINES!

(Chorus)
Here's to my heroes
to the finest of the fine!
Here's to the heroes
those out on the line!
Here's to my heroes
to the finest of the fine!

1. With the eagle, globe
and anchor
Let their banner fly!
Forever come with honor
where evil did abide.
In blazing heat of summer,
in winter's numbing cold,
That banner always fluttered,
you know it wouldn't move.

2. Here's to my heroes,
to the finest of the fine!
Wherever their name is mentioned
it brings honor to the mind.
When the word Marine is spoken
they know the bravest of the brave,
Wherever it is uttered
men are not afraid.

3. Here's to my heroes,
to the ones who stop the pain,
Here's to my heroes,
none ever died in vain.
Where ever they have fallen
now is sacred ground,
Here's to my heroes,
to the bravest ones around!

(To be said softly with dignity.)
Marines!

*********

As we talk about the marines, the question comes up "Did the people on The Old Worlds have anything to compare with the marines? Or did They just have ordinary armies? And what about the extra terrestrials?" Well, let's see! We would say The Havens had special units of The Lord's Guard, that during times of war were attached to military units. They were elite troops, the finest of the fine, taken out of the other military services. They were the first strike units, the first ones to land, the first ones to engage the enemy. I would say They were very much like the marines, except they were extremely lacking in honor. They were merciless, kill anything that got in their way, man, woman, or child. Not the kind of people you would want attacking you!
The Hashons had The Black Death, made up mostly of terminally ill people, or people that were in the last stages of their lives. Oftentimes, well people joined them and fought with them. They were The Hashon's shock troops, the first ones into battle, the leaders of the attack. Even The Lord's Guard was terrified of them and did not want to see those black circles on attacking Hashons' uniforms.
The Peepians had The Spearon Guard. The Spearons were the main people among The Peepians that were warriors. The Guard was Their elite force. Again, the finest taken out of every service to be the spearhead in battle. Members of other societies sometimes served with them. But they had to be superior warriors to gain the positions.
Yes, we would say The Ancient Races had their marines, both good, and, bad! Of course the extra terrestrials all have specialized military units as well. The Dawn Empire has their Imperial Guard, The Ashtarians their Elite Corps. Even The Mora have their Special Operations Forces. By any other name their marines. They do the same job, and carry the same pride.
