Thrift Stores On The Old Worlds
While we were eating at McDonald's the other day I was looking
out the window at the thrift store across the street, and John
Lennon, seeing what I was looking at, asked "Did they have
thrift stores on The Old Worlds?" You better believe it! In
all of the Old Societies thrift stores were very important.
To The Havens simply throwing away anything that was still useful
was considered an act of virtual treason! Even the richtook used
items to the local resale center and made them available to the
poor, if they didn't give them away directly.
The Peepians were just as strict. Waste, to them, even before
Their holocaust, was not acceptable.
The Hashons weren't quite as strict, but they, too, believed in
using things as long as they were functional. Yes, thrift stores
were popular on The Old Worlds!
