When they were back in the methane breather's world Durga
looked at her companion. "Feel better?" she asked.
The Ancient One stared at her for a moment, then answered,
"Uh huh!"
The Ax Man stared at the two of them for a few moments, then
burst into laughter. Chairman Ching watched all this. "You
have just destroyed millions," he commented, "justly,
yes, but should one feel so good about it? It does not seem like
these Lords you worship would be so joyous that so much has been
destroyed."
The Ancient One looked at him and his expression changed.
"True," he answered, "but they would also remember
all the children these things will no longer be able to feed on.
There's two sides to everything. True, somebody should not feel
so good about destroying so much, but we have every right to feel
good about all those we have saved. As we celebrate, how many of
your children have been saved because you have decided to come
out of the Darkness, and into The Light."
The Chairman thought for a moment and then nodded.
"Come on!" The Ancient One told his companions.
"This little trip has accomplished three good things. I
think we're on a roll!"
"Sesame or plain?" Durga asked.
The Ancient One looked at her, disgusted. "Come on!" he
sighed. "Let's get home and see if we can carry some of this
positive energy back to our real forms."
"I sometimes question," The Ax Man muttered, "what
our true forms are."
"A lot of people question that," The Ancient One
answered.
They returned to the dirigible's world, made sure they had left
nothing behind that might do them harm, and then opened a
passageway and journeyed home. When they got back into their true
forms The Ancient One looked at his companions and went
"Hmmmmm!" His two friends looked at each other and
didn't bother to ask what. They knew sooner or later he'd give
them all the details, he always did. Sometimes it just took him a
while to get around to it!
