AN AFTERNOON'S ADVENTURE
By; Gerald A. Polley

The Ancient One was doing his daily labor when The Lord Of Heaven came to Him. "Demetrius," he instructed, "in an hour's time one you have waited for will be appearing in The Hall Of Judgment. Go and fetch Esther and bring her! I want her to see you using your greatest power, your greatest authority. Tell her this is my wish. I will stay in your physical form and do your labor. On this occasion I want you to have your full power!"
"As you wish!" The Ancient One answered. He left his body and Jesus took it over. It always amused The Ancient One when Jesus worked for him and his coworkers had no idea what was going on! He quickly fetched Esther and found that a female spirit who had worked with her for some time was ready to take over her body.
"What an odd sensation!" Esther remarked, "To be completely out of yourself! Where are we going?"
"The Hall Of Judgment!" The Ancient One answered. "Jesus wants you to see me performing my duties there."
"Oh oh!" Esther moaned. "I don't think I'm going to enjoy this."
They entered The Kingdom Of God. Esther was handed a golden crown by The Gatekeeper with three diamonds upon it, and The Ancient One was handed a silver one. "They really do have these things?" Esther asked.
"It's funny how people forget these things when they've been in their bodies for a while!" The Ancient One laughed. "You've worn one of these for a thousand years!"
They entered The Hall Of Judgment. Peter was hearing the case of a woman who had gambled away her family's inheritance with a young lover, who, when her money was gone had deserted her. The woman was showing no repentence, saying the money was hers, she had a right to do with it as she wished. After all, she had earned it. "Agreed!" Peter answered, "But you also had some responsibility to your children, who were in dire need of it. I will grant you consent to dwell in The Kingdom Of God on the condition that you begin immediately to work with the Angelic guides of your children and use your skill to encourage them to better use the funds they have."
"I suppose so," the woman moaned, "if I have to."
"You most certainly have to!" Peter answered. "You may depart."
"The next case before us," Peter announced, "is that of Father Raymond Moore. He petitions entry into The Kingdom Of God, and many accompany him to testify to the good works that he has done. But I have a notice here that there is one who would speak against him. Who is it that would speak?"
The Ancient One took off his crown, hung it on a peg, and stepped forward.
"It is I who would speak," he announced, "as representative of The Children Of The Lords in this Hall Of Judgment."
The people with the priest moaned, and one of them quickly spoke up. "Lord Peter, we protest! This one is not even of The Kingdom Of God. He has no right to speak in these proceedings!"
Peter rose his hand. "God has given Demetrius authority to be His peoples' advocate in this hall! What God has pronounced no one may question! Representative of The Children Of The Lords, what say you against this man?"
