airport. We've got eleven Taliban leaders that want to give themselves so their people won't have to pay some outstanding debts. We've promised them all eternal life. It's not going to be easy. But I'll want to read the women and I'll want every bit we can get from the men before we take care of them. The UN and The World Court's trying to interfere. So we may meet some real hostility."
"Please!" Connie moaned, "Don't break anyone's nose again!"
"That wasn't my fault!" he answered. "I only went to smash the guy's camera. That it ended up against his nose was purely an accident! I paid all his medical bills!"
A very attractive woman entered the diningroom. "We're all set to go!" she remarked. "I have all your medication. The doctor says to watch your blood pressure. Don't get too excited!"
"They were just talking about you," he remarked, "and the little stunt you pulled. I'm wondering if some more discipline might not be in order."
The woman looked terrified then sighed. "If you think it's apropriate," she answered. "As long as I get a chance. I had to fulfill the Norse goddesses' wishes. I will accept whatever punishment you deem appropriate as long as I get to try."
He smiled. "We'll see what the tests say!" he answered. "But I'll warn you now, next time with anything you ask! Anybody ever pulls a stunt like that again and they will be sent away, that is absolute! Our relationships are built on trust. We have to be able to trust each other without question. I understand what you wanted and that you had to be loyal to those you worship. But next time ask!"
One of the girls hurried in. Connie jumped up. "I'd better get going!" she remarked. She quickly showered got into her travelling clothes, and went out to the desk. Her favorite guard handcuffed her and put his suitcase beside hers. A bus pulled up outside, and everybody boarded. There was quite a crowd at the airport. The reporters were totally obnoxious. One asked how many people they were going to kill next time.
"Come along," Connie answered, "and we'll gladly make it one more!"
The onlookers roared with approval. She was glad when they were airborne. The stewardess was one they often seemed to get. She came down the aisle, looked down at Connie's hand then scowled at her guard. He quickly took off her handcuffs, storing them away. Connie smiled at him. He leaned back. "There's an apartment coming available in the compound," he remarked. "I've asked mother if she would move there with the girls, and every night that you're not occupied I would sleep with you. Of course to make that possible we would have to officially get married. I was wondering how you would feel about it."
Connie looked at him then took his hand. "I would feel very happy about that!" she answered. "It would make that room a lot brighter! And I think the energy it would leave there would help those that have to stay. But only if the girls could come too. You know how much she adores them, that they can see her fills her with delight. There's plenty of room for a cot big enough for both of them."
"We'll arrange it," the guard answered, "when we get back." He came up, smiled down at them, reached inside his jacket, and pulled out some papers." Sign by the xs," he remarked. "I've already had the cot stored in the storeroom, all made up. The girls will be looking forward to the company. We've gotta start training those two. We don't want the wrong people developing their powers. Thank goodness they don't know about their mother." The guard looked up. "They know!" he remarked. "But they know also, that you had to defend yourself. They know the difference between good and evil, and that sometimes even people you love try to do evil things They'll never hold it against you."
He smiled and nodded, put his hand on the guard's shooulder and continued on. Connie looked after him. "You cannot tell me," she remarked "that that man doesn't have emotions!"
"Oh, he has emotions!" her husband to be answered, "But nothing like ours. Can you imagine if he felt uncontrolled passion? No woman anywhere would be safe! He would simply look at them and they would go with him and do whatever he wanted! He can never be like us. It would be far too dangerous."
Connie smiled. "Absolutely!" she remarked. "Just as tenderness, just as caring is sometimes almost too much to bear. I understand what you're saying perfectly! I really think I should get a nap. We're going to be right out straight when we get there! Maybe two or three a day!"
Her husband to be touched her hand. Connie used her training to go to sleep. She had some very pleasant dreams. She was getting ready to help a yong man go home when she had to delay until the next day because she was busy that night in a delivery room. When she woke up she snuggled up to her husband to be. "What?" he asked.
"Nothing," she answered, "just a nice dream, just a very nice dream!"
