THE MESSENGER OF THOUGHT
By; David "SACILON" Bruce
To help you gain understanding of the planet Mercury, I will
be offering you a seat in a spaceship of mind. Yet, I must begin by giving
some reasons for the trip. You will have the opportunity to learn first hand,
but let us take a moment to ponder a few thoughts.
I see Astrology as the gardener of life. Through it, we choose the work
we will do in our lives, the seeds that we will plant, the fertilizer we
will use and what we will harvest. I believe that the moment of our birth
was no accident, it was the result of many lives of preparation and the determination
to get where we are now. Our first breath not only fills our bodies with
life giving air, but imprints in us the roadmap of our future. In this inspiration
we obtain our birth chart, or Nativity, which is our personal plan of action.
As we wake up to face every new day, the plan gradually unfolds, like a lotus
flower, bringing us the choices that we need to grow, providing the opportunities,
the challenges, and the foundation upon which to build.
After you are born, the pattern is instilled within, but the Beings we call
planets continue to move through the heavens. As they travel, they wake up
areas of your life that are ready for new experiences, in this way you are
gradually brought forward to the Light. Your birth chart is uniquely YOU,
no one else shares it. The travelling planets in the sky at this moment are
affecting us all, yet each chart reacts according to its own special plan
of action.
By reaching out to touch these Planetary Beings, we are able to tune into
universal forces that gently guide all things on earth toward greater enlightenment.
If this is the case, how can we meet one of these living presences, how do
we make contact? Let us turn our thoughts to making a voyage.
It is important to understand that only close personal contact will bring
you deep knowledge of a planet. Before you step into your spiritual spaceship,
I can only suggest a few course directions to make the trip easier, and provide
a general flight plan for a successful passage. When you have been there
yourself, your ideas, your feelings, your images will be unique. It is vital
that you think of what I say as if it were a travel brochure for a foreign
country, complete with reservations. Your experience will be special.
Here, then, are a few course settings that will help guide you to Mercury,
the Messenger of Thought. Please try to take the path that seems best suited
you, the one that feels right. You may need to ravel more than one.
Your destination is the nearest planet to the Sun, Mercury. Mercury never
strays far from the Sun, you might imagine it tied to it by a rubber band
or a tether. First it stretches ahead of, then is ppulled behind,, the Sun.
We call it the planet of communication since it constantly returns to the
Light to bring new ideas or to receive the old. You could think of it as
a conduit of thought, a pipeline. Where you find it in your chart shows you
how you communicate, when and how you express yourself best. The symbol for
Mercury is
You can use the symbol as a key to unlock this planet of
expression. Imagine that the half circle on the top is a cup filled with
ideas. These thoughts pass through the spirit, the circle in the middle,
into our physical brains, represented by the cross at the bottom. In mythology,
Mercury was the winged messenger of the Gods.
These thoughts have been mine. Yet, the spiritual force of Mercury can only
be felt by taking the time to go to it. A simple exercise can help you on
your way. Begin the morning by a quick meditation. First, it is important
that you relax and prepare to feel rather than to think. Take a minute or
two to do this. Then, look at the symbol (or glyph) of Mercury and hold it
in your mind. Once you have the image, repeat "mercury" three times quietly
to yourself, as if you were calling the name of a friend. Be aware of yourself
sitting or standing on the surface of the earth which is spinning in space
on its way around the Sun. See yourself travelling out toward the center
of the solar system, look for the planet nearest to it. Visualize your feet
touching the ground. You are standing in the center of the glyph of Mercury
on the face of the planet. Now ask the question, "What do you want from me
today?" Listen for a responce. Relax and just feel Mercury beneath your feet.
After a few moments, ascend and return back to earth, descending through
the clouds into your body. Once back where you started, imagine a warm white
light surrounding you with peaceful thoughts. Take a deep breath.
The whole exercise should take less than 5 minutes and you can do it wherever
you feel comfortable. You may wish to stand or sit, do what comes naturally.
Finally, as you reach for the planets, remember that they are your guides
on the path that you have chosen. They will have messages for you. If you
can be still enough inside to listen. Bon Voyage.
