The Ancient One shook his head. "I wish those who call you evil
could
hear your words," he said. "Very well. I'll stop them. I'm going to
hate
myself in the morning, but I'll do it!"
The Father Of Islam bowed and faded, leaving The Ancient One to figure
out how to complete his mission.
Taking wing, The Ancient One began to circle the area, looking for what
he needed...some weapon he could use. A short distance from the airport
something caught his eye...a sign on a building that said 'Industrial
Cleaning
Services.' He landed, disabled the alarm system, and entered the
building.
In their supply cupboards he found the two chemicals he needed. Taking
on
his human form he materialized, loaded the chemicals in one of the
company's
vehiles and drove back to the airport. He backed the vehicle up to the
windows
of the hangar's little office, blocking that routeof escape. Then, he
put
the powder he had brought in a five gallon pail, opened the bottle of
liquid
and made his way to the office door. Those inside still lounged about
in
their intoxicated state, talking of what they would do with their
riches
come tomorrow.
The Ancient One poured the liquid into the pail, opened the door, and
sat it inside. A cloud of vapor immediately began to rise. Startled
cries
filled the room as those inside realized what was happening.Violent
banging
began on the door, and someone screamed "My God! My God! Let us out!"
But
The Ancient One simply held the door shut with one hand blocking the
only
avenue of escape. The banging slowed and then finally stopped. The
Ancient
One flung open the door, dragged the bodies into the fresh air, and
threw
the evidence of his handiwork into the brush. Then he returned to the
three
bodies, and with his power restored them, putting new Spirits into
them.
The first one rose, shaking himself and bowed.
"Most honorable Lin Chow," he said, "Chinese Free Forces. Experienced
pilot. My comrades also are familiar with the operations of aircraft."
"Good!" said The Ancient One. "Take these acraft aloft. head them out
to see on the automatic pilots. Arm the bombs so they'll explode when
the
planes hit the water. The salt in the water will neutralize most of the
gas. The rest will disperse before it does any harm. As soon as the
planes
are on their way, parachute to the ground."
"We understand!" the officer answered. "What of afterwards?"
"Disappear!" The Ancient One told him. "You will be of service later.
Those who employed these men will seek them out. We will see they do
not
find them."
"And what of the traitor?" the officer asked.
"Leave him to me,"The Ancient One answered. "Let's let him sweat
awhile. He'll know something went wrong when the Fourth passes and his
superiors
are still alive. He will expect any moment, to be seized. At the right
time
and the right place I will deal with him."
On his way home The Ancient One flew over the President's summer home.
"You'll never know!" he said to himsellf, "But perhaps that is best.
For in
your ignorance you wouldn't understand."
The Ancient One was right. In the morning he woke with an eextreme
bitterness, but it passed....it passed!
