The Lord God's Hall of Audience and found it
packed. Every noble in the city must have been there.
17 "Gentlemen!" announced The Lord God, "You know that this day I have
put out my wife because she has failed to bear me a worthy son. The
Holy Spirit has touched none of them, nor has he touched the children
of my previous wives. Therefore, I, at this time, choose a new wife in
the hope that her offspring will be worthy to take my throne. I choose
this Hashon woman, this Golden One, to be the bride of brides, the wife
of The Lord God."
18 Deep silence filled the Hall, and for many moments no one spoke,
then a Councilman came forward, raised his right arm, and lowered his
head. "Speak!" ordered The Lord God.
19 "Lord," began the man, "with your all-knowledge surely you have not
forgotten that you made it unlawful for any Haven to marry a Hashon. Is
that Law now changed?"
20 "Because of the good service The Hashons have given us," announced
The Lord God, "I have decided that they are worthy to be the husbands
and wives of those among our people
who will have them. From this day forth any Hashon that marries a Haven
will attain the rank of commoner and become a citizen with all its
privileges."
21 Excited muttering broke out in the Hall. The Lord God picked up his
staff and banged it on the floor. "Quiet!" he screamed, "Quiet! Golden
One," he commanded, "come here!"
22 The Hashon woman obeyed. The Lord God rose and came to her side,
taking her hand. "The ceremony," he continued, "will be in three days,
in The Great Temple before The Holy of Holies. Let it be proclaimed
that that day shall be a holiday, and all the people are to celebrate.
Even The Hashons are to be given extra rations so they can share in the
joy of this union. Let all pray that it be blessed, and that which
comes out of it will join both our races together!"
