a golden flash in the sun. "Hello, Son of God!"
he cried, as his friend Morn came up to join him.
10 "North, how many times have I asked you not to call me that when
we're alone?" Morning Star stated as they flew along together.
11 "When are we ever alone," the other boy answered, "when your friend
is flying along back there in the distance?"
12 Both boys laughed. "What brings YOU out so early?" Morn asked with a
chuckle.
13 "To get milk for Muga," North answered. "What brings you out, golden
one?"
14 "To see you," the handsomest Angel replied. "This is my ninth year,
as it is yours, and I need someone to take me to the Place of Our
Ancestors. My Father will be in The Holy of Holies all day and no one
in my family will take me because my mother isn't from this world. It
is permitted to ask the father of a friend, if the friend approves,"
Morning Star explained, sounding a bit sad.
15 "Ask," his friend told him happily, "and if my father says no, then
we'll go alone!"
16 The store was then in view. The flight had ended. North took out his
I.D. card, put it in the lock of the door, and it quickly opened. Morn
waited outside, while the other lad went into the store. The only other
person there was a Hashon slave at the register.
17 North got his container of milk, a package of sweet cakes for
breakfast, and went to pay. His I.D. card would credit the purchase to
his private account. The slave looked longingly at the sweet cakes on
the counter. North opened the package and gave her one as a treat. The
woman smiled at him gratefully.
18 "That was good of you to do," Morn explained, when the two friends
were together again in the sunshine. "I wish all Havens were as good to
my mother's people as you are."
