As they were changing, the same Instructor who had spoken to him on the floor stepped up behind Morn. "Well delivered," he whispered. Morn looked at him and smiled, and the Teacher walked on.
Arriving back at the Palace, Morn went down to the Guards' Command Center. He stopped at the information desk. "I want to see the Guard General," he insisted.
"I'm sorry, young Lord," the Desk Officer answered, "the General is very busy today. Can you come back another time?"
"My time is important," snapped Morn. "I will see the General now! He will make time!"
The Officer went to a view phone, and a few moments later returned. "All the way down the hall, young Lord," he instructed. "The General's Secretary will be expecting you."
Morn walked the length of the hall, opened the door, and walked through. A young Officer sat at the desk. Morn did not like the way he looked at him as he walked up. He reminded him of his uncle. "The General will be with you in a moment," the Officer said. The door behind him opened and another Officer walked out and hurried by Morn. "You may go in now," the Secretary continued.
Morn entered the office to find it lavishly furnished, several deep-cushioned chairs and a large couch faced the
huge desk at which the General sat. "Have a seat, young Lord," the General insisted. "How can I serve you?"
"First of all," Morn began, "you can loan me a key to your apartment, secondly you and your wife can take a little trip this weekend. Thirdly, you can leave your daughter home, with instructions that she is not to leave the apartment, and that she will have company, who she is expected to entertain in any way that pleases him. Do you understand my meaning, General?"
The General's mouth fell open and he leaned back in his chair. "Young Lord," he stammered “in what way do you intend that my daughter should entertain you?"
