53 Now, as North passed through these arches, he knew that all this was a lie. He didn't know what was true. Someday, he would find out, but THIS wasn't.
54 In the Outer Court with the female mourners they left his mother and aunt. His mother wanted to follow, but his aunt and another woman held her back. In the Inner Court, where the men of lower rank gathered, North left his uncle and made his way up The Temple steps. At the top The Temple Guards stopped them. "You'll have to check your weapons," they announced to The Guard Officer.
55 "I have a pass," the Officer told them, "we're on duty. " He showed the document.
56 The Temple Guard read it and handed it back. "All right," he agreed, "go on in. But use the side aisles. You know how The Priests feel about weapons in The Temple. Keep them out of sight as much as you can."
57 North and his Guards made their way to the front of The Temple where Morn met them. Morn showed North his seat, and sat down beside him, while the Guards took up positions in the arches nearby.
58 "They'll have The Service of Praise for him, first," Morn remarked, nodding towards the nearest coffin, "then, The Service of Damnation for your father. When they're done, they'll call you forward. This is what they want you to say." Morn handed his friend a sheet of paper with a short, formal speech on it. When North read it, he wanted to be sick.  "Can you do it?" Morn asked.
59 "I THINK so," North told him.
60 Morn could feel his friend's inner turmoil and knew he needed to help. He had hypnotized North many times, and to
