save many lives in the future.
48 Now, while North was building his organization, Morn was building
one of his own. With every good deed he did, he was building loyalty.
He had people that owed him favors in almost every branch of the
government, and already he had agents in every corner of The Empire.
49 He tried to keep track of what NORTH was doing, but it was virtually impossible to get an agent into North's
organization. And if any of Morn's friends DID know anything about
North's operations they weren't talking.
50 Morn admired the loyalty his friend inspired in his followers. Morn
worked hard at his studies, both his regular ones, and, his secret ones
with his mother. He had gotten some unexpected help in a strange way.
His uncle, for a reason Morn couldn't understand, had left him his collection of alien
literature and artifacts, and to Morn's surprise, several of the
volumes dealt with The Dead World's Religions.
51 Morn found that there were strange parallels between the teachings
of some of these religions and his father's people, while others
reminded him of The Hashon Way.
52 One night as he read, he put down the book and looked at his mother.
"Mother," he asked, "what is Ultimacy? What is it that each Soul is striving for? Some races call it Ultimacy,
some call it Perfection, some call it Purity, but I think they are all
speaking of the same thing. But what IS it?"
53 "My son," answered his mother, "there are some questions that
cannot be answered, and you have just asked one of them. Wiser Teachers
than I have tried to answer that question without success. The Old Fox
said that Ultimacy was the total knowing of one's self, total unity
with all that is; complete peace. We can never know it in these material
bodies, and once we know it, we can never return and tell others of it.
For there are no words that can possibly describe the wonder of it. It
