58 Now, North knew Smiling Moon well. The man without question, would
give his life to protect either himself, or, his son. Shining Star
could be in no better hands. And the look of hope in his son's eyes
told him how much he wanted this fishing expedition up in the mountains.
59 "You're sure it will be no inconvenience?" North asked.
60 "Really, sir," Smiling Moon answered, "I'll enjoy the trip as much
as my young friend here, will."
61 "Very well," agreed North, "all my gear is packed, and my boots and
everything should fit you. But keep him out of deep water. He's not the
world's greatest swimmer, and see that he acts in an acceptable manner
with the Inkeeper's daughter!"
62 "Yes, sir!" Smiling Moon laughed.
63 "Father!" moaned Shining Star, blushing, "I'm ONLY good friends with
the young lady, and you know it!"
64 "I've got to hurry and change," cried North, "into my uniform, and
if you two are going to make the long flight up to the lodge before
dark, you'd better get going! Remember, that field doesn't have any
night lights, and it's tricky getting in there."
65 "Then I won't bother to change," remarked Smiling Moon, "I'll use
the clothes you've got packed tomorrow."
66 North hurried, changed his clothes, and walked out to the flier with
Smiling Moon and his son. "My friend is taking the flier," North told
the Garage Attendant. "It's alright. Open the shield on the bay so they
can take the ship out." The Attendant looked nervous, but obeyed.
