door, North could hear Morn snapping orders behind him in his cool,

53 As North approached the park, troops were arriving by transport
flier and on the wing. They gathered on the rooftops surrounding the
park. Through his binoculars North studied the scene below.
54 The two groups had split and were no longer fighting, but gathered
on opposite sides of the park. There were bodies everywhere and wounded
either crawling around, or just waving an arm, calling for help.
55 "Now's the time to go in." snapped North, "while they're separated.
We'll form into a flight of four, The Palace Guard on the outside, the
rest of the troops on the inside. We'll land between them: two ranks
facing in the opposite directions. There we'll stand fast while I order
them to disperse. If they refuse the ranks will split, sweeping forward
and drive them to the exits where they'll be picked up. Remember our
new Orders."

the flight was on its way, formed in perfect ranks and swept out over

57 Both groups saw them coming, but made no effort to advance on them
