Morn. "Commander, you will accompany the Medical
Officer to sickbay, NOW!"
65 North smiled. "By your order, Squadron Commander."
66 "I will want a full report, Doctor!" Morn continued. "As soon as
possible!"
67 Both men disappeared through the hatch and Morn returned to his
command chair. He was extremely tired, and could do with a full cycle's
sleep, but his duty was now to get out of system and to a place where
the injured could be cared for. "I'm going to take a nap," he told
Firing Control. "Wake me when the Doctor returns."
68 The Officer nodded. It frightened some of the deck crew how Morn
could sleep in his command chair but wake up instantly aware of
everything that was going on. Two hours later when the Doctor returned
the Firing Control Officer reached over and touched Morn's ear and he
was instantly awake.
69 "Your report on Commander Northern Star's status?" Morn requested.
70 "Status is satisfactory," the Doctor assured, "slight radiation
poisoning, nothing we can't deal with, minor lacerations. But I must
comment, sir, that this Officer is physically and emotionally drained.
I strongly recommend a capable Officer be put in charge of whatever
duties he would need to attend to, and he rest for at least a week."
71 "At the present time, Doctor, that would be an impossibility. The
Commander has duties that could not be filled by any other person, and
which he would not permit me to reassign. However, I will lighten his
duty load as much as it is within my power to do so."
