in a derogatory manner, just as a statement of
genetic inheritance."
79 North nodded, and The Priest continued. "There are certain ones
among The Priesthood that are not unsympathetic to a Rebellion. They,
too, question the truth of what The Lord God teaches. They, too,
believe there is something more, something closer to truth. Many
secrets are kept from them.
80 If a Rebel was to offer them free access to what information they
had, and helped them gain the information that is in The High Priest's
computer, all the knowledge of The Dead Worlds of The Hashons, and the
true unaltered History of our people, then they would be willing to
serve that Rebel, and could do much in his behalf."
81 "I take it," remarked North, motioning The Priest to a chair, "that
you have a means of extracting the information from the computer. "
82 The Priest nodded. "But unless we have some safe place to take it,"
he answered, "some place outside The Lord God's influence, then we
would not be free to study it. Many of us are ready to disappear, to
have unfortunate accidents. Many others are willing to stay where they
are and receive the new knowledge and faithfully serve the ones who
helped them obtain it."
83 "Then we have a bargain," agreed North. "In exchange for your
silence I will provide whatever you need , but you stay with me. You
will be my contact with the other Priests."
84 The Priest nodded. "It is done," he agreed, "I am your servant."
85 A few weeks later a communication's beam for over an hour,
transmitted data up to the ship orbiting Haven, filling a special
computer deep inside the vessel with knowledge that had been hidden
since the beginning of The Empire.
