make sure everything in those districts is
satisfactory in a military sense."
17 Morn nodded. "There's going to be a couple of openings. Some
military Commanders will be spending the rest of their lives in labor
camps. I'm sure some good positions could be found for three young
Officers. Just put the requests on my desk. I'll see they go through."
18 "Only two will be necessary," assured North, one of them has other

19 Morn did not mind Haven Officers who were grateful to him. He

20 Morn had a rough idea of what systems North had control of. His
Agents had managed with no small effort, to breech North's incredible
security system. But Morn was not yet ready to let his friend
know he was aware of his impending Rebellion against The Empire.
21 Morn preferred to build his own organization. If something went
wrong and either of them failed the other would still have a chance at
success. When the actual time came, it would not be difficult to
combine those forces.
22 The next few months passed quietly except for an attempt on North's
life by a local Governor. Fortunately, though, a few days before, North
had been stung by a hornet and suffered an allergenic reaction and had
been undergoing treatments. The death ring the Governor had stabbed him
with contained a similar poison.
23 The drugs North had been given fought off the poison's effect long
enough for him to fight off the Governor and escape. What was supposed
to have been a simple exercise session had nearly killed North!
24 The excitement from this incident had barely quieted down, when the
entire district was rocked by exciting news. A returning exploration
ship brought word
