49 "I still use my quarters that were assigned to me," Bright Serpent
explained. "I have no family so when we were freed I had no place to
return to. I was raised at a breeding facility. All I know about my
family is my father was a Mine Worker and my mother was someone's
Cook. The facility shut
down some years ago and they simply destroyed all their records. They
didn't worry if we knew our ancestry or not."
50 "There is room in The Speaker's House," announced Morn, "next to my
family's quarters. You will move in as soon as you can. Was the name
given you by your parents, or by the breeding station?"
51 "The station selected it," cursed Bright Serpent.
52 "From now on," announced Morning Star, "you are named Bright Star,
and you are designated my son. You will see that the necessary papers
are made up."
53 "Yes, my Lord!" Bright Star stammered, "As you wish!"
54 Morn smiled as the young man departed, but then returned to his
work. There was much to do.
55 The next day he walked with North on a freshly cut grain field on
the prison's roof. North was silent for some time, then Morn simply
began to speak, explaining the punishment The Council had in mind, and
the reasons for it.
56 "The sanction I don't mind," agreed North, "but do I have to have a
Priest? I just got rid of one, and to be stuck with another one….I'll
study Hashon Law and abide by it, but you know I'm not all that damned
religious."
57 "I've always hoped," encouraged Morn, "you'd take more interest in
my peoples' Faith. Both your wives have already joined The Church, and
