was moving out of system. The Lord God's ship was
already on its way.
43 Sweet Comet had her hands full for several hours. She left North and
Falling Star, which was the name of his new Servant, while she
concentrated on the General. The Lord God had literally nearly beaten
him to death. There were several broken bones and a severe concussion.
"He sure hasn't forgotten his battle training!" she announced, "Every
blow was placed to do the maximum damage. He'll live, though."
44 When she had the General safely floating in a med com, she checked
up on North. The leg wound was only a scratch, but as standard
procedure her Assistants had done a full body scan. Some of the
readings disturbed her, but she wished to say nothing at the moment.
"When we get back to Hades," she ordered, "you're coming into the
hospital. I want to make some important checks."
45 "I thought you did all that the last time you patched me up," North
complained.
46 "We may have missed something," the Doctor said , "or perhaps we
should have been checking you closer. Just relax, and enjoy the ride.
Get acquainted with your young friend over there. You're not leaving
this sickbay until we beam down to the hospital. I've got my greedy
little hands on you, and I'm going to hold on until I'm good and ready
to let go!"
47 North knew better than to argue. It was just too much trouble
fighting medical privilege, and the Doctor wouldn't hold him unless she
had good reason.
48 As she left, North turned his attention to his young companion.
"Now, young man, what to do with you! First of all, let's forget this
slave business. You're free to work for me or anywhere you want in The
Republic you like. Do you still consider yourself loyal to The Empire?"
