70 Both the Engineer and the droid answered
simultaneously "Yes sir!"
71 "Now if you will help me to the command deck, I.S., I want to stay
there until we are safely in orbit."
72 A few hours later the Engineer called North. "I've
checked I.S.'s figures," he announced, "if they're right, they
might possibly be able to work in fifteen minute sessions and would
require an hour to cool down. I think if we use all the droids rotating
them constantly, it just might work. It's going to take them a long
time, though."
73 "The sooner they start," recommended North, "the better off we are.
As soon as we're in orbit pull the engines and let them get to work!"
74 So it was the ship's droids began to do the impossible. As soon as
the engines were pulled, it was discovered one was melted. It was flung
off towards the sun to burn up while work began on assembling the
remaining ones.
