"is the continued existence of that society, is
this not so?"
49 "In some aspects," Morn began. "I would agree with you. But
oftentimes the continuance of a society is for many different purposes
and not necessarily for its own preservation! Our society exists so
each person within it can reach for their highest potential no matter
what that might be. That each may seek their own path to enlightenment,
as you would say, or, Ultimacy, as we call it. I would say that The
Godden System is more in line with what you are expressing; a society
that exists merely for its own perpetuation."
50 "I think," answered The Peepian, "that there could be considerable
agreement on what you say."
51 "Fairly good for a savage, don't you think?" one of The Peepians
thought to his companion.
52 "Quite good," the other thought.
53 "You know," Morn thought strongly, "that it is very impolite to
speak offensively of a host in a way you do not think he can
understand. Do not think yourselves so far above others that they, too,
do not share your capabilities. We have a word for ones like
you......it is bigot."
54 All The Peepians sat back and smiled almost in perfect unison.
"Forgive us," the second female apologized, "but you have passed our
test with great honor. If you had let us go all the way through and
continue to behave as we were behaving and said nothing, we would have
been greatly disappointed. But instead, you have done what you should
have done, and rebuked us. Please understand that all that was said was
merely to test you.
55 And all that you have done was exceptional! The others of our people
will make certain demands before the completion of The Alliance you
desire, is accomplished. But we have an additional one. We want some of
your cells and, some of your seed."
