44 North laughed. "A brother and sister," he commented, that do not snap at one-another occasionally would be unnatural. but I can see beneath their nature a deep love for one-another. And might I add I find both your ladies of charming beauty."
45 "For both the ladies," said Spearina, "I express thanks. But I am anxious to see those ladies that could capture such a great man's heart and the products of their union!"
46 "By The Holy One, so am I!" cried Spearon. "Bring them in, Chamberlain, bring them in!"
47 The Chamberlain bowed and a few moments later returned with North's wives. "Oh, Protector of the fair and innocent," he cried, "him that sees that every maiden has Justice. I introduce to you the wives of Northern Star, and their children."
48 "Come up, ladies, come up!" cried Spearon. "Bring the little ones closer, that I may hold them!"
49 As his wives came up, North went down the steps and spread his arms. Responding to the signal his family gathered around. "The lady," he explained, "sitting in the chair is with The Lords, but to them she is sleeping. Act as if it is so. Understand?"
50 The women and children nodded. North mounted the steps with his wives and introduced each by name. Spearon took a child in each arm after kissing each of
