furiously to the Peepian Security Men, who were
angrily trying to push her away from North. "Hey!" " North snapped,
"Take it easy! What's the trouble here?"
64 "They put your mechanical protector on her bed," one of the Security
Men explained, "She wants to know who's going to pay for the damages.
We told her it would be taken care of, but she says if the Government
does it, it will take weeks."
65 "Knowing most Governments," North agreed, "she's probably right!" He
reached in his pocket, and pulled out the Peepian credit card he had
been given, but never used. "Here,"
he instructed, "I'll buy her bed, and, give her another one! Take
whatever she needs out of that, and return the card to me later."
66 "Yes, sir!" the Security man snapped. "I will handle the matter
personally!"
67 North was busy and thought nothing of the incident. Several hours
later he was returning home when he found a crowd outside his door.
Inside he could hear Spearina screaming, "Get her out of here! I won't
have her in this house! He doesn't need her! I'll kill her first! Get
her out!"
68 North pushed his way through the crowd and entered the apartment. He
found his wives, the Security Guard from the house with the woman whose
bed had been damaged. These two were backed into a corner with the
Security Guard obviously trying to protect the woman from Spearina's
fury. His face already showed scratches from the Noblewoman's nails.
The Security Guard now held her hands, trying to keep her from
inflicting any more danage.
