53 "What brings you here?" North asked.
54 "To show you this!" Spearina proudly announced, putting her
Certificate Of Acceptance on North's desk. "I want you to fulfill our
bargain!"
55 North took the Certificate. "87%!" he gasped, "Very good! But I'm
afraid I can't give you The Bread And Wine. I'm not recognized as a
Speaker, by The Hashons only, as a Priest among your people. I have no
right to administer the most sacred of Ceremonies. but I'm sure Great
Bear would be proud to give you The Bread and Wine."
56 "Well, he would be my second choice," Spearina agreed, "but there is
still the matter of our bargain. You said when I was a member of your
Faith you would consider me as your third bride. Now that I have a
witness with me, I ask you to fulfill your bargain. You know I have
your other wives...er, mates' consent, and I grow weary waiting for my
wedding day."
57 "You must first take The Bread And The Wine," said North, "then we
can set a date for the other ceremony."
58 He had been looking down while he spoke. When he received no
response, he looked up. Spearina was staring at him. "Yes?" she
stammered.
59 "Yes!" North agreed, with a smile. "Lords help me, but yes!"
60 Spearina curtsied and disappeared through the door at nearly star
speed. Spearonias stood laughing. "May I be the first, sir," he
announced, "to wish you luck and my good wishes?"
61 "Thank you!" North answered, "Now let us get back to business. I've
got to get home. The next few days there are going to be worse than
what we've been going through here!"
62 Spearonias laughed again. "I do love your peoples' strange ways! I
have enough problems with one wife. How do you possibly manage three?"
