rests. "The Hashon yards," he commented, "can turn out hulls faster than they can be fitted. I think there's already some on reserve. You mentioned you wish I could be here three months from now. You must have some reason. Very well, we have a bargain. I will return with the hulls in that time, provided you have taken the Tests and are ready to receive The Bread And Wine, and take the Oath Of Obedience."
"The Tests are already in Great Bear's desk," North announced, "completed and graded. There is with them a signed certificate ready for a date."
"What grade did you get?"
"Ninety-five per cent!" North boasted. "I still have trouble with some of those damned Philosophies!"
Morn nodded. "I will check them over myself," he announced, "as soon as you are on your feet, we will have the Ceremony....a small, private one....only a few local Officials. But I think you will have to exchange the Peepian robes for Speaker's robes. I think, though, you can still wear the Scarf and Belt of that Office as it is well deserved."
"Whatever you say," North answered. "Now, get out of here! They're letting me go home tomorrow. Day after tomorrow I plan for us to be in our ships, heading out to give The Goddens a little surprise!"
"Sounds good to me!" Morn snapped.
The next day North DID return home. Valley Blossom and Sweet Cloud were used to North being injured. Spearina was not, and she hovered over him all the time, jumping every time he moaned or groaned! "Whose turn is it to prepare supper?" North asked.
"Mine," announced Valley Blossom.
"Spearina, trade with her. Your hovering around me is making me nervous! Let's let Morn and his mates enjoy some more of that good Peepian cooking!"
