Palace, the other The Holy Of Holies. THAT will
be YOURS!"
25 They had reached the beam tube station and apparantly the Operator
already had his orders, because Morn and North simply stepped into the
transporters and were gone. They appeared on The Morning Star, which
was underway before they even left the receivers, the whole Fleet
moving into position behind them.
26 Morn immediately, from North's command deck, announced to the entire
Fleet where they were going, and what they intended to do. "When we
leave the system," he ordered, "I want nothing of military value to
remain. Destroy the shipyards, the supply bases, and any ships that get
in your way. The destruction of the capitol will be the responsibility
of the landing party.
27 Our goal in this single strike is to so cripple The Empire as to
make it incapable of any longer waging war. Our success will depend on
our swiftness, our accuracy, and our courage. I do not doubt that I
will receive from each one of you, all that I need. May The Lords be
with us in our Just Cause!"
28 Morn turned to North. "Let's go relax," he suggested, "play some
pockets, and, some chess."
29 North agreed. There would be several days before they saw any
action. North and Morn spent this time together. Just before Morn had
to beam over to his own ship, he asked North a question. "Do you have
any regrets about your life?" he asked, "If it was shortly to end, is
there anything that you regret?"
30 "Little things," answered North, "of not much importance. Perhaps
the only thing I would like different is if we had been able to spend
more time together! Our friendship has always been the one thing I have
treasured most in my life!"
31 "Again," sighed Morn, "you put into words my own thoughts. Soon the
line that has ruled Haven for so long will finally come to an end.
There will be no more who will sit on that bloody throne."
