woman to clothe herself like that in front of a
man is just asking him to take her!"
130 Mountain Glory put down her pencil and smiled at him. "I think," she laughed, "you're getting the idea!"
131 Gray Boar laughed. "Give me a little time, woman, please! What are
you working on?"
132 "Just going over my fighter again, trying to think of some way of
getting someone to build it. I KNOW it will fly. I KNOW it will! It
will blow anything the enemy has out of the air. But because it only
has two wings, everyone says it will crash! Nobody will build it.
Perhaps all that money you spent on me has been wasted."
133 "Never!" snapped Gray Boar, as he carefully studied the designs.
"It'll really go THAT fast?" he gasped.
134 "If everything works the way it's supposed to!" said Mountain
Glory. "The retracting landing gear gives it a big edge, and the six
heavy caliber machine rifles in her wings will bring down anything. If
I could only get a prototype built and show people it will fly!"
135 "We'll get it built," snapped Gray Boar, "I promise. Right now we'd
better get to bed. It's getting late. It's going to be a long day
tomorrow. " She came with him to the door and looked through to his
bed. He put his arm around her and said, "Not yet. Good night."
136 The next morning they boarded a plane at the air field and took
off. Gray Boar was in the back, working with some instrument. They
loaded at another field near Eastern then headed up the river and
finally sat down again at a village near its banks. It was one of the
most beautiful villages Mountain Glory had ever seen. Hundreds of
children ran towards the plane crying "Uncle! Uncle!" and surrounded
Gray Boar. He began handing them little bags of candy. "Did you bring
one of those nice outfits?" he asked over his shoulder.
137 "Yes," Mountain Glory answered.
