Chapter Five
At the end of the next season, just before fall would again open the
deserts, Gray Boar invited the members of the army supply committee to
see a demonstration of the new tanks he had developed.
2 They arrived in one of his new cars, the first to be totally enclosed
and equipped with the new safety glass, which he had invented. All
three models that he was making were selling so fast they couldn't keep
up with the demand! And the rumor was already out about his tanks!
3 "As you can see, ladies and gentlemen," he began, "The Iron Boar
Model One is like no other tank ever built. It has a turret on the top
like a ship that can be turned in any direction. It is completely
enclosed in armor even on the top. Its cannon is twice as heavy as any
piece on any enemy equipment.
4 It also carries two heavy caliber machine rifles, one inside, and
one on the top of the turret. I'll now signal my people, and they'll
give you a demonstration of her mobility and fire power."
5 The tank rolled across the field, its cannon and machine rifles
blazing at appointed targets. The dignitaries and crowd roared with
approval.
6 "Now, we'll see what she can do against aircraft. I'll signal the
launch of the target rockets, and have some towed overhead."
7 As the tank began firing at the targets there was a sudden 'whoosh!'
and a flash overhead. The crowd jumped to its feet, as a plane roared
from the sky and downed two of the target rockets, spun around and hit
two of the towing targets!
8 "This, ladies and gentlemen," announced Gray Boar, "is the second
reason you are here .....The Mountain Glory Comet, the fastest, most
maneuverable and deadly fighter plane ever built! Half again as fast as
any aircraft, she carries six machine rifles
