54 Now, Gray Boar did not weaken The Land, but strengthened it, and the people were happy. When he began to hear
cases, the people found that his wisdom was not in the sciences alone,
but was also in every manner of The Law!
55 Now, one day a young woman came before Gray Boar with complaint.
"Lord," she began, "I was always a good daughter to my father, but a
few years before his death I joined The Gentleness. He was very upset
and told me I was not to come to his house any more. Then, when he
died, I discovered he had disinherited me, giving my portion of the
inheritance to my seven other brothers and sisters. Now, Lord, I don't
think this is fair. I did my father no evil, it was wrong of him to
deny me what was rightfully mine.
56 I put petitions before my Local Speaker. The District Speaker, and,
The Ten High Judges, but none of them would decide, saying I was right
to protest, but my father could do what he wished with his property.
57 The community I have joined, Lord, desperately needs the money. We do
not have enough land to grow all our food, and there are two farms for
sale next to our property, and I had hoped to buy them, and give them
to my people."
58 Gray Boar looked troubled. "What your father has done," he agreed,
"is surely wrong! Because you have joined The Gentleness, is no crime
worthy of disinheritance. But I cannot break a will. A will is sacred,
whether the person making it was fair or not. What they do with their
property, is their business.
59 But I will suggest this….that your brothers and sisters give you
back that portion of the inheritance that was your due, and whatever
portion they do not give you, I will give you. So you have enough to
buy the land your people need. For because you do not seek this money
